Re: Living Space or M&F Installations Ltd - Kitchen Installation

I have also worked for living space and can confirm that anything positive that has been posted about them is lies! The 'directors' of this company resent paying their own staff, and will come up with anything they can think of to withhold wages. Their latest one was that they were 'snowed in' and therefore were unable to drop the wages off. The whole company is a shambles, and they prey on gullible & vulnerable people (preferably single women). The 'designers' that they send to peoples houses are infact high pressure sales people who wont get paid unless they bully people into buying a bog standard kitchen that they probaly dont even want! All of the staff at living space have absolutely no respect whatsoever for their 'customers' no matter how polite they are over the phone, dont be fooled by them! They have traded under a different name before going bankrupt and re-opening as living space. If you are contacted by them or any other company claiming to give you something 'at no extra cost' or 'a fraction of the normal cost' DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM, THEY WILL TRY TO GET MONEY OUT OF YOU BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE! And from what other people have said on here, it seems like once they have their teeth sunk into you thats it, so never agree to anyone you dont know coming to your house.

Same here - the Director is saying that he never received the cancellation letter even though it was sent Spl Delivery and signed for.

trading standards met with the Living space just after Xmas (after they failed to turn up to a previous scheduled meeting) and mentioned my mums deposit. The MD said he would look into it. He then informed trading standards that he had repaid the money - NOT TRUE> its just all promises and delaying tactics. My mum has since been to a high street kitchen company and the kitchen has cost half the price with non of the hassle.

The Directors of M & F Installations Ltd are being taken to court by Warks CC for various matters relating to the taking of deposits, failing to cancel contacts, the paperwork they provide, the aggressive sales technics they employ. The details are here http://www.oft.gov.uk/advice_and_resources/resource_base/consumer-regulations/traders/3556/1/

Re: Living Space or M&F Installations Ltd - Kitchen Installation

I was telephone canvassed by these people today and I’m so angry, and this is the third time they have called me in 12 months, I asked them to leave me alone as they have already been out to see my mother once before. They should have a data base that shows this for heavens sake - The products look okay and the sales person was very pleasant, but the presentation took a long time , far too long ! and we started to feel very much under pressure to make a decision on the night.
To be honest – I would have made a purchase, if the presentation didnt have a slight feeling of a scam about it - but the aggressive attitude of the manager on the phone, ( I think he was foreign ) scared us away - I don’t think people should be exposed to such sales tactics as this – I think these people are too pushy and I wouldn’t buy on that basis.

    joolss:

The head office number is 01772563521. Doncaster is 01302 369032.

We still have not had our paperwork or deposit back but thankfully the hassle has stopped.

ERM - I tried both these numbers - the {reston one just rings out - and the Doncaster one says that its not accepting any calls

Re: Living Space or M&F Installations Ltd - Kitchen Installation

I have just read the review by the last poster Honore, and that has promped me, I had to add my own comments about working for this company.

I recently accepted a sales job with these people, previously I did read these reviews, but being an optomist I took the "job"offer anyway. - the company promised to pay a basic wage plus commision. There was never any mention of a cost for the so called "training course" they just said that to be paid you had to come along on the course. During the training new recruits just dropped out day after day - I knew something wasnt quite right - and that became apparent as soon as I got out on the road. Poor leads, and no secure finnancial input from the company, I soon began to see I was wasting my time, and questioned if I would get paid at all. the bombshell was when a couple of days later the training consultant resigned. ( So things were not looking good.) When I asked about my wages - To my horror - I was told that there was a course fee nearly 400 pounds and that would be deducted from any earnings I had made, I was then told by the owner that I would also be charged for leads that after quitting !! - I had refused to accept.

None of this was explained at any time in the interview. The office manger was a reasonable guy when I eventually got to speak with him, and he took on many of the points I made - He said that had he interviewed me he would have told me these things ( mmm,, ) It looks like the company struggle to find and retain sales people, which is a pitty.

I would not advise anyone to work for this company unless they fully understood what risks they were taking on.

As for the product - well its a good one, but is too expensive, even after the nonsense promotional once in a lifetime offers they make its still expensive - to sum up - in a word I dont trust these people.

Re: Living Space or M&F Installations Ltd - Kitchen Installation

My review is Factual - based ona personal experience - and is truthfull.......

Living Space is a company that is based in Lancashire - and has apparently been established for about 2 - 3 years.

In an earlier post on this thread they claim to have totally no connection with "Space Kitchens" but in reality the story is very different - they are mainly former employees of space kitchens, this is what they themselves told me.

They conduct their business on a "sell on the day only" basis - you can only do a deal "on the day" they are not interested in any other form of sale. The company is owned by mature couple from Portugal and they run a call centre in Preston, which is in a dowdy first floot office in the centre of the town. The company have no showrooms, they dont advertise - they dont invest any money into the staff at all ( no investor in people awards here ! ) - but, with the possible exception of the telesales people who work a 3 shift 7-day-a week rota . As far as I can see they do not "employ" any other staff - their front line peple ( sales designers / technical "surveyors" / fitters / managers / recruitment people - all look to be on a self employed - self funding basis.

In a confrontation sittuation - these people are scaringly ruthless.

The Only possitive side is that the company have sourced a good product....... a cabinet that meets the highest standards ( eg - ridged carcase - full height backs - 17mm high density on all panels - and Blum soft close drawers and doors - so the product is good. Nice range of doors - and They offer a 10 year guarantee - but for now, I will hold my council on that one.

They push simple designs - nothing OTT ( well those sort of folk wont do a deal on the day will they ? ) and they prefer to supply basic Duropal worktops at a massive premium ( beleive me ! )

However back to reality - they have a customer service line you wont get an answer on ( try it ) they have an on-going recruitment scheeme that takes on inexperienced sales people - who are NOT told that they will have to be on call 6 or 7 days a week for 16 hours a day - they offer to pay a retainer - but trick new recruits into a trainning programme that the new "employee" has to pay for if he or she leaves early ( they dont tell them ) and their Telesales people promise all manner of nonsense just to get appointments " a free kitchen " is the most common one - That area is shabby to say the least -

Their prices are Sky High !!! - And the sales pitch has been taken directly from the Double Glazing Industry - after 3 hours of playing mind games with you - you will be drawn into a bargain session with a manager on the phone - which could result in a reduction of 60% or more so long as you sign on the line there and then. As for appliances - they will try to get you to take a basic hob / single oven / and extractor pack ( bit like B & Q ) as they buy these in a a massive discount - They wont give you a glossy brochure - they wont leave you with a plan - they wont do a 3D CAD ( pretty standard these days ) untill you have parted with some cash - and they wont allow you "look around" and then come back.

My advice, would be to ask many questions - do the sums, dont be forced into an "on the day" impulse purchase, make sure they will remove your old kitchen and not tell you to do it yourself via E-bay ( how stupid is that ) - make sure you get the price you want - and be aware that the "designer" is infact an undercover salesman, but you already knew that didnt you ??

There are better companies out there - with staff you can make friends with and take your time getting what you really want - when you want it !!

Most of all - If you are someone who is considering a sales job with this company be aware of what your getting into - ask awkward questions - and be sharp - dont, please DONT EVER sign anything ! - be prepared to work 7 days a week from 9 .30 am till midnight using your all own petrol and phone costs - be prepared to give your life to these people - your appointments will be handed out to you at very short notice, you will need to risk your time and money on some very poor quality leads. but if you dont mind working like this, you are ruthless, then maybe, just maybe you will earn some money - but, if you take my advice - be aware !!!

    BE VERY aware !!!!

Re: Living Space or M&F Installations Ltd - Kitchen Installation

BEWARE, DO NOT PURCHASE FROM LIVING SPACE!

I have my own story to tell. My encounter started with a phone call to look into buying a kitchen from livingspace. My wife agreed and we had a saleman come around. Spent 4 hours...finished his call at 11pm. He went through the usual talk and after everything we said we don't have the money and will speak to friends and family. He agreed with his boss, if you write a cheque, it won't get cashed until 10 days later. This will give sufficient time to cancel we assumed. We could not generate the funds and sent the slip within 7 days only to realise the cheque had already been taken by the company and cashed. (£1500 cheque). They don't seem to answer their calls in preston and when they do it is usually the receptionist. No one in the accounts office for a week!!! When a 'person' spoke after I requested to speak to the manager he refused to confirm his name or position. Not impressed at all and now I think its time to go to the courts. Spoken to the local MP who has been in contact with the local bank and the Ombudsman and we have contacted Trading Standards as well.

    BREWERDAVE1:

Funny that the last three positive comments are by people who have only posted once???

    CYNIC, MOI ???

I make you quite right Brewer Dave - surely a professional company with many many happy customers would 'never' stoop to creating accounts for the sole purpose of posting false praise of their own company? ;o)

    Oh wait...
