I hope it was only me. Never got a Play button, just a blank picture. After it was announced as ended, the heads came back. I await the "on demand" service with interest, well not that much unfortunately. (%interest rate joke%)

Badoom-cha! (drum roll and cymbal crash) - ;)

Humph - I was able to watch it fine from here, but then it's on our website...

Jalexa - which browser were you using? operating system? I'll get the boffins to run a test to make sure it works for future webcasts. Let me know how the 'on demand' viewing goes too...

If anyone else out there wasn't able to watch it, could you drop me an email at the address below with details of your browser and operating system. It'll help us iron out any viewing problems. Many thanks.

Vista Home Premium (SP2) and IE8, all fully updated. ( I did have Flash problems a few days ago but AFAIK that was sorted and I've not noticed any other problems since)

Ta. Thanks for that. I'll take a look and get back to you as soon as I can.

It's available on demand now - I'm guessing it's still not working?

Nope, or is that yep? Just a blank screen and no Play button.

Re: Live webcast: Change to Firefox. Much better than IE

    Jalexa

I would recommend changing to Firefox as your default browser. I gave up on IE, due to the security and technical issues over a long period.

Firefox does not have the same issues for viewing videos/cams in different formats. I had no problem accessing the MS webcast.

Give it a go for a few weeks. You will find it much quicker to use in all respects. Updates and any add-on are an absolute breeze. Firefox will also enable you to transfer all your favourites across from IE.

Thank you for that suggestion. When I tried Firefox it didn't immediately work but gave enough clues that the issue was connected with the Flash problems I had had. Did a clean install of Flash and the webcast is now working on Firefox.

Still not working on IE8, can't get the Flash installer to run now.

So in conclusion I think the problem was IE8/Flash related. Will work on that later.

    Thanks again

Re: Live webcast: Change to Firefox. Much better than IE

    Jalexa

You will find that Firefox appears to be much more intelligent in finding any such issues. It appears to automatically know about compatibility issues and suggests a download of new version of flash etc.

Also when you go into Firefox it often comes up with details of free add-ons.

I did also load IE8 to see what it was like. No change, still full of bugs and the usual poor user experience. You will find Firefox is much quicker in use and downloads easier.

Once you get used to Firefox, you will never use IE again.
