    Re: Linked accounts

Thanks, I've tried the first approach and £1 has gone from my NW account but assume I will have to wait 3 working days for it to appear on the Citibank one (nothing there when I looked earlier)

To go over what I suggested previously, go to your Nationwide online system and setup a bill payment arrangement using your Citibank sort code and account number. Test the arrangement with a bill payment of £1 and see if it arrives in your Citibank account.

Regarding the Direct Debit problem, I again presume there has been a misunderstanding. Citibank would be the Originator so you must find out how to notify Citibank of your nominated account details. It is Citibanks job to pass these to Nationwide. I find it card to believe the Citi help line is saying "instruct NW". There must be a big misunderstanding occuring. The account would never work with anybody if that was the case.

    Re: Linked accounts

The problem is I dont know how to set up a DD link. I have sort/account nos for both but don't know how to proceed. Cannot enter the Nationwide details on the Citi bank account and don't seem to have any means to transfer externally fron the NW account. Citi help line is saying to instruct NW but assume this would be a one of event and not convenient to keep having to repeat

Just opened a Citibank account (3.3%) only to find you can only transfer money out.

I assume from the interest rate it's Flexible Saver Issue 6. From the account description .."Transfer money to and from your account - no penalties - via our easy access 24/7 online service or via the phone"

I assume you must have misunderstood something. Guessing you are expected to set up a Direct Debit to the linked account and then instruct Citybank to collect. Some accounts work that way. Alternatively if the account has a standard format sort code and account number why not just try sending £1 and see if it arrives.

    Don't really see the problem.

    Hi Eng,

You don't say what sort of savings account it was at Citibank.

Was it an ISA, and Fixed Term Bond, something else?

With the name people will be able to do some research and provide some guidance.

Typically it should tell you how to manage your account when you open it, and you should be able to enquire with Citi on this directly.

    Sparky.

    Linked accounts

Just opened a Citibank account (3.3%) only to find you can only transfer money out. I have Egg and Ing accounts where you can transfer in/out easily. Anyone know the best way to get money into this account. Want to do it from Nationwide but don't seem to have any facility to transfer out. Want to do it without incurring costs
