Re: Letz Talk Ltd (Leicester) & Master Wholesalers Limited (Leicester)

    Dear forum user,

LETZ TALK/ULTIMATE BILES – MOBILE PHONE CASH BACKS

As you may be aware, our Service has been jointly investigating the businesses Letz Talk Ltd of Evington Road and Ultimate Biles Ltd of Green Lane Road, Leicester.

In 2007/2008 the mobile phone retailers offered mobile phone cash back deals which were never fulfilled. During the investigation, we heard from many consumers who had not received cash back payments. In January 2010, company directors Altaf Master and Imran Patel pleaded guilty to fraudulent trading, fraud by false representation, and money laundering.

There will now be a financial investigation into the assets of the companies. This will be conducted by Leicestershire Police and as part of the investigation we again need to ask for your help.

We are keen to find out if the mobile network operators (i.e. 3, T-Mobile etc..) are still asking customers to pay any outstanding monthly line rental charges. We are aware that the mobile operators and debt collectors have been chasing these debts. We would also like to hear from you if you completed your contract with the network operator i.e. made all the payments and terminated the agreement.

We are therefore asking customers/forum members to contact us giving their name and address and to confirm the following:

    1. Whether or not you completed the contract, including all the required monthly payments?

    2. Whether the network operator (e.g. three, T Mobile etc..) is still pursuing you for unpaid monthly charges?

    3. Whether a debt collector has been appionted to collect those debts?

    4. How much cash back you were owed when the businesses ceased trading?

    5. Do you still have documentary proof of the contract and cashback?

If you have already listed yourself as a witness in the case, then you may receive a separate letter to this effect.

Please email responses to trading.standards@leicester.gov.uk You will receive an auto response saying that we will respond you, but unfortunately due to the volume of enquiries we will not be able to make individual responses.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Regards

    Leicester City Trading Standards Service

Re: Letz Talk Ltd (Leicester) & Master Wholesalers Limited (Leicester)

    Dear All,

I'm afraid that with a Crown Court trial to take place in the future we cannot say much about the investigation.

However, just speaking generally, cases involving fraud often involve a financial investigation and if there follows a successful conviction, a request can be made to the Court for confiscation of assets. Where assets have been recovered, the general rule is that compensation (of victims) must come before confiscation.

We would just ask for all customers of these businesses to remain patient and we will know more in December.

    Regards,

    Leicester City Council Trading Standards

Re: Letz Talk Ltd (Leicester) & Master Wholesalers Limited (Leicester)

thank you for letting us know trading standards.

Is there any possibilities that we will get out money back for the rightful cashback owed to us or will they be taken to court and we wont get our money back?

Re: Letz Talk Ltd (Leicester) & Master Wholesalers Limited (Leicester)

    Dear All,

Leicestershire Police and Trading Standards (Leicester City) have concluded joint investigation against the Directors/owners of the businesses. Four people have been charged with offences and have attended Court to pleaded not gulity in relation to fraud. A Crown Court trial has been listed for hearing during the week of 30 November 2009 at Leicester Crown Court.

The business trading from South Wales has a similar name to those in Leicester but we do not believe that there is any connection between the companies in Leicester and those in South Wales. If you need further advice about how to deal with a problem with the company in South Wales, please contact your local Trading Standards Advice Service or Consumer Direct on 08454 040506.

When we have more information about the case in Leicester we will post a further notice.

    Regards,

Leicester City Council Trading Standards Service

Re: Letz Talk Ltd (Leicester) & Master Wholesalers Limited (Leicester)

Niccy23 - Have you cancelled the contract? I have exactly the same complaint with talk3. I have been in contact with their fraud department who have confirmed that an account was set up by Letz Talk in swansea and that it was a case of "slamming".... industry phrase for forcing a customer into a contract. Despite this Talk3 are refusing to terminate my contract until Letz Talk acknowledge phone returned... I have cancelled the direct debit as instructed by the Talk3 fraud team who then explained how to receive money paid to date.

As the customer services are ignoring their own Fraud Team I will be making an official complaint notifying them of my intention to use legal resources. If you want the references then i will provide them. If anyone else is having these issues then we should forward to trading standards as per the Letz Talk Leicester action.

Last week I got a letter from Crown prosecution Service(CPS) about criminal proceedings have been started. I may be called as a witness for this. They have sent me a copy of my statement that I gave to them. So good news CPS has started the work hope something positive comes out...
