    needhelp88:

...I spoke to someone who said that in the small print when you apply for an overdraft it states that Natwest may review and remove your overdraft at any time...

Would be better if you created your own thread as it refers to Natwest, the original thread referring to Lloyds.

I can't give you quick advice for Friday but you should obtain a copy of the account terms and conditions and see exactly what they say. I cannot speculate but on the face of it I am surprised there was no notice. Can you think of any obvious reason in your financial circumstances which might have caused this? Is it something they have ever raised with you previously?

Regarding what you were told, you do not need to take anything said by a bank employee as correct unless it is contained in the final response letter to a complaint, so look out the Natwest complaints procedure and get ready to submit a complaint if you find what has been done to you or said to you is not 100% in accordance with the account terms & conditions.

    Later edit.

Refer to Clause 6.1.2 of the Natwest Terms & Conditions and decide or find out what grounds Natwest cite for not giving 30 days notice (and what grounds Natwest cite for the verbal explanation you were given referring only to part of the applicable clause).

    Hiya

I am currently having the same problem with Natwest however i didnt receive any warning! I checked my account after payday and my overdraft was gone and i only had £150 in my account, i work full time and it just so happens my overdraft was £1000.

I am now panicking because i have to pay rent and bills but cannot as Natwest have taken all my money! I spoke to someone who said that in the small print when you apply for an overdraft it states that Natwest may review and remove your overdraft at any time.

Any advice is welcome because my rent is due on friday and im a bit lost

hi there, i really dont kno wif your situation i the same as i have noted date on post, but i have a rather large overdraft with lloyds and i have agreed numberous payment plans with them and never managed to stick to them being in a similar situation as yourself, i reclaimed back a whack of bank charges form them this year which i intended to clear the overdraft with but its not every day you get free money that you never thought you would get back so with second child on the way i spent it on very useful things instead clearing a few smaller debts and buying a few small treats, anyway i have ever stuck to a payment plan for long and i recently had a letter from lloyds offering me a loan to cover the amount of the overdraft, therefore they were offering to refinance the overdraft into a loan so i coudl pay it off quicker and it woudl be cleared in full. i have declined this offer but it maybe something you want to look into, i declined a i have plenty outgoings as it is ans with the payment plans i am not stuck hard and fast as i woudl be with loan repayments every month that are non  negotiable but if you ant the balance of the overdraft it clearerd this maybe the way to go.

    good luck

    hiya Rachel,
thanks for the responce and concern. in the end i phoned and spoke to a rather abrupt woman whos accent i couldnt understand much. i made an agreement with them to pay back £20 a month to pay off the o/d. But she made me feel rather lousy! just wish sometimes i could be more rude to people like tha in responce but its just not in my nature! they def said i couldnt re do o/d as have no income basically of my own. but Must pay £20 or they will demand full amount back in one go! so a little nervous! typical with xmas coming up and things but nevermind. we have a four year old and baby whos 4 month now! were you getting smp? maybe thats why they extended it?
    thanks again!
    X

did you ever get a response about this ??

Our overdraft was up the day I was due for another baby. They where also giving me a week to pay back £1,000. I rang on the day and spoke to a really stuffy person, no sympathy whatsoever. I was so upset I put the phone down. ( hormones I think got at me ).

Rang the next day when my other half was here and a different person I spoke to said, no worries I will leave the overdraft facility on the account until August 2007. Now work that one out ??? Pleased with the response but couldn't understand it. Who trains these people >?? Or what happens to the system they are working on ???

    Amazing isn't it.

Good luck and I do hope you where okay in the end.

Im going to phone as they requested but any advice before I do? what can i do about it, and are they allowed to do this giving me 4 weeks to find £1000 before they start charging me the earth in charges! we seem to be going from bad to worse. trying to claim bank charges back from natwest for my husbands account at mo, things are quite bad. any advise would be appreciated..thanks
