Hi Ian, did it read like I was confused? Sorry... Like you, I know that these two couldn't care less about our situation and seem to have washed their hands of the whole thing. Our petition to the Queen went the same way.... Of course now Guernsey and Jersey have introduced a non-retroactive protection scheme...! It is thanks to the Group that we have been able to claw 67% back, and it is to them that I was addressing my thanks. I just hope that their action keeps the juice coming out of the stone. Best regards, okidoc.

Got another 12% in January, getting there... No pressure as long as it keeps trickling back home. Thank you.

Hello everybody, Thank you to all of those who are acting on our behalf, every minute, hour, day, week or month that you have spent on the case is so very much apreciated. Unlike Ian, we do not feel abandonned as the results of your hard work speak for themselves:
we got 30% back earlier this year, and another 25% back this month, unfortunately our petitions to the Queen have been dismissed. It will all come back in the end. Won't it? To our angels: please keep up the morale and the good work, you are winning the battles. Many thanks.

Hi Graeme, The last 12 months has been a living hell,,for us and our families! I like many feel totally let down and forgotten By the Uk,Guernsey and the Icelandic Goverments! They all should be ashamed of themselves! Lets hope some of the faceless people in power try to reverse the injustice of this situation soon. Regards Ian

As you may have seen in my other posts, it's nearly a year since the collapse of the Icelandic banks Kaupthing, Glitnir and Landsbanki and we’d like to hear your stories of how you were affected how you've all been getting on... As the forgotten victims of the crisis, we're planning on raising awareness of your plight, so please let us know how you're getting on and what your views are on the situation. If you're willing to talk the the press about your ongoing battle, let us know too.

Has anyone seen P.10 of the Daily Mail today; ‘Council Tax to rise’. Something about it was revealed yesterday that council’s would not get back 1bn invested with Heritable and taxpayers will have to stump up to cover the tax shortfall. Deloitte’s have no info on the situation and cannot get anything out of E & Y at the moment. Can anyone enlighten? Janson

Rabid, Excellent, eloquent and so very, very true. Let us hope that CM Trottski is in some far flung corner of the world when your letter is published, or trying to convince Barack Obama what a safe, honourable and wonderful place Guernsey is to deposit funds, and I hope the Guernsey Press will give your letter prominence on their letter's page. I would suspect on behalf of all disgruntled depositor's I can say 'thank you', and make Mr T realise this is NOT going to go away and die.

Sent to the Guernsey Press today
Reference the article by Nigel Baudains; Guernsey Press 22/01/09 FINANCIAL SERVICES OMBUDSMAN ‘WOULD KEEP BANKS IN LINE’ Statement by Deputy Marc Laine ‘You would be wrong to assume that the Guernsey Financial Services Commission works on behalf of the consumer and in instances where it does, there is a strong case to suggest that irreconcilable conflicts of interest arise’ said Deputy Laine. Now openly stated, what was blindingly obvious but so difficult to substantiate. The GFSC and any self-policed investigations are totally discredited. Guernsey did not need to have spent an, as yet undisclosed sum, on experts more than 50 miles from home working under ‘in the back pocket’ terms of reference. The Landsbanki Guernsey customers could have come to the same conclusion free of charge, under any such restricted terms of reference. The fact that the terms of reference dreamt up by Harwood et al and the cost of the exercise, has been kept secret from the general public makes it a discredited, worthless document. Far from it vindicating the GFSC, as our duplicitous politicians would have you believe, it dams them. The attitude of the Chief Minister and his subordinates beggars belief; the one positive effect their response has had is to harden the resolve of the more passive members, raising the profile of the justness of the saver’s campaign. Landsbanki Guernsey Ltd. was a Guernsey Bank, run by Guernsey Directors, regulated by the Guernsey legal and political authorities; all of whom had a duty of care to the people who trusted, the now discredited mantra, ‘Guernsey as a well run, well regulated, safe haven for your lifetime savings’; your security and comfort for your old age. Hang your head in shame. Next time you feel cold Mr. Trott and turn up your central heating, think of the pensioner turning theirs down because they have lost the money to meet anything more than the basic necessities for existence. You arrogantly and dispassionately state you have not had scores of pensioners queuing up at the Social Security offices requiring help. With your attitude is it any wonder? Many would rather die than compromise their independence and dignity to satisfy some false premise to your argument that if there is no hardship, there is no need for the States to get involved with such a tiresome matter. The Island drew revenue from the interest on those savings. The least you could do is fight their corner, not regard it as having better things to do with your time. Remember it was a Guernsey Company and is now a Guernsey problem. It may have had an Icelandic parent company, but the duty of the directors was to running the Guernsey company in the best interests of its clients. Guernsey has the problem and sand will not resolve it! A true Chief is a leader and protector of all of his clan; objective, compassionate, just. In times of crisis he stands head and shoulders at the breach; not playing the big ‘I am’ but fighting for the rights, freedom and independence of his people. What have you done other than ‘spat’ in the face of the pensioner, and those planning to refrain from being a burden on the state? You justify your lack of steadfastness in the face of adversity as ‘not wasting a penny of taxpayers’ money on greedy investors’; an argument so full of false premises it is obvious that for once you did not get a civil servant to write your reply. The Isle of Man Government have been proactively campaigning and arguing their case with a physical presence in Iceland. Where is our Chief Minister and Treasury Minister? The answer, hiding a thousand miles behind the front line. We do not want taxpayer’s money but we demand proactive support. We do not want to see disgruntled investors from around the world staging an active campaign of negative publicity in Guernsey, but that is what is brewing and you will have brought it on yourselves. This problem is not going to go away until an amicable solution has been found. Saver’s are now engaging people to look in to liability and culpability; how much will defending the Island against litigation cost? How much long term social welfare costs will be invoked by the inhabitants? It has been noted that when politicians want to spend money, it comes from General Revenue; when they do not want to fund something it is because they do not want to spend taxpayer’s money. Double standards? Of course but that is the art of politics; much to its eternal shame. I will sign off now as I have to book myself in for some operations I require. Unfortunately for the Island BUPA will not be paying for these as in the past, I could no longer afford to keep up the payments. Who was it said savers are not going to get a penny of taxpayers’ money? Festina Lente. Janson Bewey Ommadawn Rue Colin Vale

At last, someone prepared to get off his *rse and give it a go. Take a look at all his Utube video's if nothing else, it will brighten up your day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=578MEU49us0
Now you need to get this website and this lead onto the LGDAG website, about being organised on here. Icy has stepped up to the plank and click his profile(Name) and you will see an email address there, make contact and make a date. The date should be well in advance but a simple march and that crap will not be enough. You have to be prepared for a weeks camp. Have a holiday in Guernsey, well take a holiday and yep, chain yourselves to Landsbanki offices and maybe others, so they can't actually open the bank that day or for several. This will take time to organise but nevertheless, this could get substantial numbers with the right publicity. This site has lost a lot of the participants they have migrated to the LGDAG site, so who's brave enough to post this demo or ACTIVE ACTION on there. The trouble with that site is that is has no anonymity and intimidation is rife if you dare voice a difference of an opinion. So plan ahead, set a date that will have maximum impact, not a weekend though. Cheapest way to Guernsey must be the ferry but hey, I'll check it out and report to Icy. I'm sure with the right planning you could give Mr Trott and his team a very nasty breakfast call one bright sunny-day.

Icy - I could get there almost anytime as am based in Jersey. However it would probably cost you an arm and a leg to GET to Guernsey from the UK. I am one of the 'oldie' brigade, but also a fighter and not scared of anyone or anything. I hope more people take up your offer. Maybe a protest outside the States when Mr Trotski is in residence or Deloittes would bear more fruit, as I guess the bank is empty now?? Come on folks, support this guy, there is nothing to lose more than you have lost already.

Ok alot talk about doing a demonstration, so lets actually do it! I know there are alot of elder people I don't expect them to do anything so listen up: Now everyone who is able to go to Guernsey and do it email me in my profile and tell me when you are free to go, I'm 20 years old my parents died by the time I was 14 so you can imagine life has given me the attitude of 'I don't give a damn. These are my plans: I am willing to chain myself to somthing mabey the outside of the bank it would be nice to have some support mabey at least 2 people by my side who do not have to be chained, I will only leave my position to go to the toilet and eat, have a wash, and have a beer, or mabey I will just stay there and and shout outside the bank, but I will need a beer! Anyone who is willing to go crazy and do the same let me know. Anyone who can tag along let me know. We will not round up enough people i think if we could we would have done protests earlier, but we should still push for this. Billy5 (I think I know who you are!) and Calespain, How I agree with you both, and you are right, there are a lot of people who have gone away from this site, and, it would appear the fight as well. Billy5 is right inasmuch as the Channel Islands governments do not care one jot. It is all waffle and no action or ideas. They have basically wiped their hands of the situation BECAUSE THEY COULD. This is what we should be working on, the fact that the Channel Islands are NOT a safe and secure place to deposit money, especially in these times of economic crisis. Start to publicise that fact and their God of finance will soon start to panic and maybe have second thoughts. I have lost nothing as I was not a depositor, but I know someone who has, and I know how hard those savings were worked for. Years of hard slog, and yes......faith in Guernsey. Come on all you people that have gone away. The sun will soon start to shine and a nice day trip to Guernsey might not only perk us up, but Trott 'et al' as well. Come on folks, let's get motivated again, but we need to be united and strong, not divided and ineffective.
