    Re: Land of leather cancellation

I ordered a Freddie 209 in May 2008 - waited 12 weeks and within 2 weeks the leather on the cushions was baggy and to me the foam did not seem firm enough. Complained to the shop after a lot of moaning and refusing to have a new suite repaired as I believed it would them become reconditioned, a replacement was ordered. That was delivered December last and it was soon clear that this one was no better. I started complaining again and someone came to do a report. (The administrators had been called in by this time) It appears that this suite is a soft seat suite and the cushion and headrests should be plumped up and "dressed". He did say that new foam and a hot gun should put it right. By this time I was getting fed up with LOL and phoned Trading standards. They told me to write to the credit company and hold them equally responsible for the substandard furniture. The credit company did write and say that they had been in touch with the administrators and they would handle it. So many phone calls and letters and finally I got a phone call on 27th April from a girl who told me "I had to look after my suite by plumping it" -she was reading from the report. I told her that if I pay over £2000 for something I would obviously look after it. She made me quite mad with her tone and she said her manager would phone me later as I had to go out. He phoned today 28th - told me that here was nothing wrong with my suite - his friends had one and theirs was baggy but were quite happy with it. He will not even entertain repairing it and definately not replacing it. He was quite an arrogant little man, didn 't get his name but will phone and get it tomorrow. I feel as though I shall get nowhere now - I will try the Trading standards again tomorrow to see if there is anything that I can do.

THIS IS JUST A WARNING - IF YOU HAVE ORDERED A FREDDIE 209 AND NOT RECEIVED IT - GET IT CANCELLED UNLESS YOU ARE QUITE PREPARED TO BY AN EXPENSIVE SUITE AND LOOK IN DISMAY AS IT GETS BAGGY AND SAGGY.

My old one which was 12 years old looked better. The man from the administrators said that the company who made it was one of the better comapnies - NO WONDER THEY HAVE GONE TO THE WALL.

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

I've now had a call from LoL regarding my replacement suite - I reminded them that we are now talking cancellation not replacement. They said I will be informed shortly of when the damaged suite will be collected - so I live in hope!

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

I am in much the same situation. My suite was ordered in July 08 dekivered in October 08. The suite was damaged upon arrival, but as I had no other furtniture to use I decidd to hold on to it, I indicated on the delivery note that it was in an unsatisfactory condition and also stated what the damage was. LoL agreed to replacement suite, but I'm still waiting. After several attempts to write and telephone Deloitte requesting to cancel and to ask them to collect the unsatisfactory suite to no avail, I have sent the recorded delivery letters etc to LoL and Creation Finance giving them a timeline of 14 days to respond - but as yet not heard anything. I ordered on a buy now pay later basis, so as yet not paid out apart for the deposit. I have asked for confirmation that I will not have to pay until a replacement suite is delivered. - I live in hope..!

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

I purchased a 3 piece suite from LOL in July 2008. It was delivered in Oct 2008 and soon showed signs of being faulty. These faults were immediately reported to LOL. They agreed to replace item. Should have received replacements in Jan 2009. Company went into administration, cannot replace item so have asked to cancel order. Bought on a Pay Later schemme with Creation Consumer Finance. Full payment not due till July 2009. I have written twice to administrators asking to cancel and have suite collected, no reply. Have written to CCF to ask same, so far no reply. What are my options?

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

    Hello again,

As I said in my previous comment, I sent my tick the box letter saying please cancel. I received my confirmation letter on Saturday 14.3.09.

All of the following is the wording from the letter:-

You have indicated that you wish to cancel your order due to the Company being unable to fulfil the order within a timeframe acceptable to you.

This letter confirms that your above order is now formally terminated.

If you signed a finance aggreement (which I did) at the time of placing your order then a finance cancellation request will be presented to your finance company.

If you are due a refund as a protected creditor for an amount paid to the company then the following will apply depending on the method by which you paid:

. Credit card or Visa card - request a refund directly from your card provider.

. Cash or cheque on or after 26 Dec. 2008 - A refund cheque will be arranged by the addministrators within 28 days from receipt of cancellation.

. Non Visa debit card on or after 26 Dec. 2008 - you will be contacted as soon as possible to refund the amount directly to your card.

Please allow us to take this opportunity to appologise again for any inconvenience caused.

    Back to me;-

I will be keeping this letter in a safe place in case the finance company comes back at me. I hope my contribution is helpful and gives hope to those of you who have not had your 'letter' and people who paid by a different method to me. I would also like to thank all of you who's contributions helped me though my ordeal which appears to now be over.

I will watch to see how you all get on and now I am going to sit on my Harvey's (15% off) recliner which came last week.

    Best of luck,

    Fred, Blyth, Northumberland.

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

Hello - we sent a letter to state that we wanted to cancel on 5th March. This was in addition to my phone call and several emails. The LOL letter confirming our cancellation arrived today (Sat 14th), although I've just checked the date on the letter and it says 9th March - a bit slow even for 2nd class!

I hope you get it sorted out very soon.

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

I FINALLY managed to get through to the helpline (after over 2 weeks of trying..) by repeatedly pressing the '0' as someone suggested, and they've confirmed that we are able to cancel our order. Our deposit should be repaid within 10-14 days, or so they say. I will confirm their own words back to them by letter today, just to be on the safe side.

    Re: Land of leather cancellation

    Hello

I've just been to an SCS store and they are offering 10% off for anyone with a Land of Leather order. Apparently this applies to all their stores. I've got my eye on a suite but want to wait for formal confirmation that our LOL order is cancelled first.

The SCS store had received a letter from their head office saying that LOL has ceased trading now, although this may just be speculation on someone's part. However my local LOL (Nottingham) has a big sign outside saying "administrators sale - this store must close" even though they are not on the list of the LOL 'official' 33 store closures.
