    Re: Knock down the garage???

    Hi,

Sorry for such a late response, we decided to keep the garage, a local builder and estate agent both agreed that keeping it outweight the size of the garden issue!

Hi - just out of interest... did you decide to knock down or keep the garage?

We are in the same position & trying to find out what negative effect it would have on the value of our house & if it would
out weigh the benefit of having a larger garden.

    Thanks,

    David.

    Re: Knock down the garage???

    Hi

The garage if it is in a good state of repair, is an asset as it provides additional storage space or use as a workshop etc. Not everyone wants a big garden these days as they don't have the time to maintain it.

If I was considering this I would ask a local estate agent around to give me a free valuation. You could tell a white lie, that you were thinking of possibly putting it on the market at some point. This would enable you to ask a question about the local market and the relative value of Garage v larger garden.

    Knock down the garage???

Hi, we bought our house just over a year ago and we are not sure whether it would be a bad move to knock the garage down which currently takes up about 40% of our already tiny garden - what are your thoughts, would a bigger garden and no garage make a huge difference to the value of our property? - we have a carport that fits 2 cars anyway??
