I have just moved into a new house on 16th Oct 09. Today I have finally had my phone line/Broadband switched from the previous owners Talk Talk line to the Orange line, by BT Openreach. However I have been informed by BT that the previous owner did not tell talk talk that they were moving and the line was still live. We haven't used the line at all since we moved in and we don't want to get the bill for the previous occupier. I have tried speaking to talk talk who basically weren't interested and said if the bill wasn't paid by the previous owner then our address would get black listed.
Now the new owner may pay the bill but we have no way of knowing and as their post is being redirected (at last!) I will not know what bills/correspondance Talk Talk are sending to them and I have no forwarding address for them. So all I know is that the balliffs could turn up without warning at our house.
So the question is as Talk Talk are not interested who can I talk to to make sure we don't end up with the bill after 16th October and no black listing?
