    amberglover:

if anything she should only be paying about a fiver for usage coz it never gets used but bt being bt charge over the odds and she follows it.

as ttlady pointed out that's the charge for Option 1.

If your gran is out of minimum contract period have a look at http://www.plus.net/.

    £5.99/month in a Plusnet low-cost area.

Re: just cant understand a thing of this bill off bt?

To fully track this back you need to go back to previous bills but the bill she has recieved can be explained as follows:

Balance brought forward (ie arrears from previous bills) 42.73

Add: charges for quarter @ £15.65 a month (as per BT website) 46.95

Total due (arrears plus charge for quarter) 89.68

Less: amounts paid (should be on bank statements) (62.00)

Balance due at end of quarter (ie, arrears carried forward) 27.68

So you Mum hasn't been charged any extras as £15.65 a month is the standard charge per the BT website. I imagine the monthly payment increased to £23 a month to clear the arrears built up. To find out the origin of the arrears you need to track back through earlier bills and find out when the balance first appeared. Assuming she doesn't get charged for any extras it will take her just over another quarter to pay her current arrears off (she is reducing them by £7.35 a month).

just cant understand a thing of this bill off bt?

its my grans broadband only option she has with bt

she is extremely forgetful but is also a bit hopeless when it comes to technology :)

so she got her latest broadband bill off bt the other day and it appears they are completely ripping her off.

for a 78 year old woman, its unclear what she is actually paying and what she agreed to pay

    il explain the bill

it starts off with the statement totals.

    rental charges: £40.82

total this period (inc vat): £46.95

    brought forward: £42.73

    payments: -£62.00

    debil balance: £27.68

her rental charges of 40.82 are charges in advance from 1st july to 30 sep.

the 42.73 brought forward is from 2nd april

then the 62.00 deductions that have already been paid were paid on 29th april, 28th may and 29th june.

the first deduction in april was 16.00, but then the following two were 23.00

    why this sudden increase?

and then how its suddenly saying her debil balance for this month is £27.68

we cant understand it, and im usually quite computer litterate with all these things.

i just dont understand the whole thing?

why is it charging her more? she isnt exceeding her usage, if anything she should only be paying about a fiver for usage coz it never gets used but bt being bt charge over the odds and she follows it.

i dont really know what im asking but ifanyone can dumb this situation down for me to understand to see if there is anything i can change so it isnt so expensive for her.

    its ridiculous.

btw its bt broadband option 1.

    thanks.
