    Jewellery

Hi - I want to insure regular 3 bedroomed detached house with contents insurance IRO £55000. BUT I also need to include about £9000 total of jewellery (3 x rings). These to be covered under all risks inside and outside of home.. Any ideas on where to get the best cover and what do i have to watch out for?

    Hi

Your Insurance requirements are reasonably standard, so you may be able to get comparison quotes online. But you may find it better to phone Insurers or use a local broker. Find a broker using http://www.biba.org.uk/ConsumerHome.aspx

A sum insured based policy, rather than bedroom rated policy would be best, as £55k for 3 bed is more than the average.

The jewellery would need to specified under Contents(home) and Personal Possessions(away) to provide cover in and away from home. You should have valuations which are less than 3 years old for the jewellery.

Insurers may apply minimum security requirements. This will include a good quality of protection for doors/windows, possibly an alarm and also a safe. The security requirements required by different Insurers does vary and it depends on where you live, previous claims details and what other valuables you have. If Insurers do have security requirements make sure you can comply with these and if not how long they will allow for you to update security. If you don't wish to Install further security, try other Insurers as requirements do vary.

    Hope this helps
