Re: Is my usage too high??

If the meter was read and you had an accurate reading when you moved in, I would think 1500 kwh usage during a 6 week period would be high.

I would think that you have the water heater permanently switched on and that could be the reason. And you have really long showers. If you have a high wattage outside light that is permanently on during hours of darkness, that could also be a factor. Change the bulb to a lower wattage or have the light changed to one that only comes on when movement is detected.

At the weekend, what I think you should do, is turn off all the electric items and then check your meter to see if is still registering usage. If it is, you may have a problem, It is not unknown for there to be cross wiring in apartments, especially in converted houses. You would then need to speak to your electricity company about this and see what you need to do. If cross wiring is not the problem, perhaps you have another problem that an electrician needs to check for.

    Is my usage too high??

I have recently moved into a new build 2 bedroom apartment. Its all electric. I work 7-5 so I am out of the house for 12 hours a day.
I have always been concious of the electric so have always switched lights off, TV off by mains plug etc.
I have the heating come on for 2 hours in the morning and couple hours in the evening.
We also have vents in our ceiling which suck up excess heat and recycle it some how? its a grade 3 self sufficient home??
Anyway received our bill after 6 weeks which was an estimate of 300kwh @ £52. But on doing our meter reading we had used 1500kwh since we have moved in so our bill was in fact £191!!!
Now to me this is way too much! I have friends in large 3-4 bed houses that have their heating on most of the day who pay less then me!
is it just me or is that way to much?
what is you usage a month?
I gave my last reading on 22nd Jan and its gone up 300 kwh since then...even then that would work out less then 1500kwh in 6 weeks. but still seems high.

Please tell me if I am just imagining this or if this is actually a problem??

    Thanks
