Is discount available when paying cash for an SCS suite?

I have seen a 2 and 3 seater leather sofa in SCS that is currently being offered with 2 years interest free credit. The cost of the 2 would be nearly £2000. I am happy to pay cash and wondered if anyone had experience of getting a discount from SCS in this situation and if so, how much should I expect to get off?

Actually companies like customers to buy on credit. When they default on payment, they then can hit them with a good rate of interest. You could ask for a discount for cash, I would have thought 10% would be a minimum for a £2k order, so start by asking for 25%.

I have heard that some companies are experiencing delays in obtaining stock. Make sure that if you order that you stipulate by what date the order has to be fulfilled and if not what cancellation or further discount rights you would be entitled to. Get them to note the order with the details and obtain a copy signed/dated by them.

Re: Is discount available when paying cash for an SCS suite?

I paid cash for my suite from SCS no cash discounts were available.

They even charged me £45 delivery on top so be warned. They were the most Ignorant company i have dealt with.I paid for my two 3 seater sofas , I had to wait 12 weeks for them. They were measured also the front door , living room door etc prior to delivery and more than once. The delivery man came eventually to deliver. The delivery man was extremley rude and said the sofas would not fit . I said they would, he basically talked down to me and called me a "stupid woman" in front of my two children. In the end to appease him I called a window company out to take out the front window AT EXTRA COST. When my husband came in from work who was a surveyor at that time he was fuming. He went to SCS with all the measurements , doors sofas etc.He spoke to a manager and complained about the delivery mans behavour and the delivery man threatening to leave the sofa in the rain in the front garden and for calling me stupid. My husband then went through the measurements with the manager and invited him to watch us put the suite through the Front doors into the room .All i got was a half hearted sorry .

Moral of the story - i wish i got the suite on credit as i would have cancelled it the day the delivery man was rude and told them where to shove it. As i paid cash they took the full money before hand .I personally woud pick a better company as my friend had the same trouble. The suite was also damaged and i had to wait weeks for a new leg.

That sounds awful, we ordered the sofa's 2 weekend’s ago however so we are stuck now. Luckily we managed a to get a really good deal. The sofa's cost roughly £2000 and we are paying £1737 including delivery (15%). We had tried negotiating in the store and didn't do particularly well. I then resorted to negotiating on the phone with one branch, they went down to 10%, but I then went to another branch who had given us slightly more in the store for a different sofa and said that we only wanted to pay £1700. He came back to me within 20 min’s with the £1737 which we took. After a few conversations we purposely decided to negotiate at the end of the month as we understand that they have targets to meet and so will be more happy to do a deal.

I think that the store you went to was a bit naughty as there is definitely a deal to be done if you are paying cash as they have to pay for the credit.

Thanks for your comments – it is all very well getting a good deal but we have to actually get the sofa yet! Incidentally, when the receipt came through, it made no mention of the sofa’s we had ordered, just that the order was for a 2 and 3 seater. Luckily, we went into the store so they could amend the receipt and it transpired that the man had ordered the wrong colour so thank goodness we went in.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that the sofa’s will actually fit in through the doors – we are wondering now………….!
