pearlinthesea:Does anyone know if it's possible to insure yourself fully comp. to drive a car registered and owned by someone else, with their permission of course!
Normally as CMK advises you have to be added as a named driver on the owners Car insurance policy. But bizarely there are temporary Insurances available.Do a search. One company that provides cover is dayinsure and this is FAQ/answer shown on their site.
50. Can I insure a car when I am not the registered owner/keeper
Yes,providing you will be driving and using the vehicle with the owners permission
I am not sure exactly what cover they provide and the cost. You should check and compare with the cost of being added as a named driver to the owners policy. I suspose the benefit of a separate policy could be that it does not put at risk, the car owners NCD under their policy.
If you do enquire with dayinsure, could you please post back whether they provide comprehensive cover and how premium compares with being added as named driver.
