    Insurance for learner driver

Does anyone have a recommended company for adding a 17 yr old learner to your insurance as a parent.  So far, there seems to be little difference between the rate for a 17 yr old that's just passed his test, and having him as a learner when I'll always be in the car (thus preventing testosterone fuelled bouts of adolescent madness).  Currently with TESCO who want  approx £100 per month for a group 5 car so willing to change companies when insurance is up in August.  Seems a rip-off to me. Thanks, Colin

While you're waiting put CAR INSURANCE FOR LEARNER DRIVERS into the search box by sign in/out.

    Re: Insurance for learner driver

Did that already, with responses that 1. not yet a service on moneysupermarket or 2 try google search.  I was hoping that since there are lots of threads and comments about insuring young drivers, that some other parents may have had more luck than me.  The  online  companies so far make no (or very little distinction) between a learner and someone who's just passed. Thanks, again.

You may have got an 'error' (actually like this heavy type is) but I have just tried it again and you get some useful stuff up - next to and left of "(entire site)".

Hi - suggest you try lv= (was liverpool victoria)

They also provide sensible prices for cars insured in the names of young drivers.Still not cheap but much less than some others.

Thanks for info. Also found a thread (not motoring section, under insurance/car insurance forum ) with some suggested companies.

    Re: Insurance for learner driver

Hi there I got my car insured in my sole name as a learner with Norwich Unions 9 month bonus accelarator. It was another 5 months before I passed, so only took me 4 months of driving alone to earn a years NCD.
