    ING Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme

I have a savings account with ING Direct, which states that it is covered by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme and advertises coverage of 100,000 Euros / £77,700 - can you confirm whether this is applicable to UK residets?

I have over £60,000 of my savings in this account and would like to know whether I should decrease this to £50,000 or if I am indeed safe.

If the limit is €100k changing your balance from £60k to £50k will not effect your eligibility.

I've taken this from a page on the De Nederlandsche Bank web site:

A small group of private people are excluded from compensation under the DGS: directors of the bank in difficulties, persons holding a 5% or larger stake in that bank and close relations of such persons. Certain categories of enterprises are also excluded, such as financial undertakings and government bodies.
