Re: I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker
Well my first sign up was myself. It seems that the majority of the problems with TT sign up are actually from CPW. On my last round I spoke to people already on TT and the majority of the unhappy ones signed up in CPW. The ones sold door 2 door or over the phone seemed to work fine and were all activated on time. I think this is perhaps because the regional managers of my company are also or are former regional managers for the TT product. I'm very happy with what I've got. I put myself on the Talk3 pack with bb. 3 weeks later my phone was thru TT and my bb activated 3 days early, maybe we just get priority for being staff but I'm satisfied. Needless to say I haven't ever had to go through TT's customer services area I always go through our staff line to get stuff fixed because it's quicker and the call centre is just down the road from me in Plymouth so I can go tell 'em what for if it isn't sorted out ;-).

Re: I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker
I did all my signup procedure at my local Carphone Warehouse shop, in Loughton, Essex and have never had any trouble, perhaps I've been lucky. Actually, I also signed up there for my brother, who lives some 30 miles away in Billericay, as he is partly disabled and housebound and he had some truble with the telephone line, but is running quite happily on TalkTalk. Overall, we have both been satisfied with our Phone lines and Broadband. As I was on Option 3 with B.T. and dial-up with Tesco net, and these two combined, I was paying about £18 more per quarter, and for just dial-up. So far, I am happy with the service and the savings.

"I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker" I like verbose Knockers! Is there a collection somewhere that I could feast my eyes on?

Re: I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker
Hi babygirl, I have just left the comment below about TalkTalk on the MS rating page, the lack of service on the phone is terrible, always 'sort it out in 72 hours' but never happens, although a visit to the shop does get a response. Mention of Otelo SEEMS to have got something moving, hopefully. However my eldest son only got compensation and an apology, when he used Otelo, my youngest looks as though he may be next. 'Cheap and very nasty Hi, problems occur regularly, ignored mostly, even if you can get an answer on the phone or website, calling at a shop seems more effective. Currently without Voice Mail for almost 8 weeks, despite numerous calls and visit to shop. Wrote last week threatening complaint to Otelo, got phone call today, hopefully will get it sorted, although I wont hold my breath. Had to give ones to some of the Ratings as unable to give zero, pity. Son has got only Broadband or Phone tonight, not both together, good luck to him. John.'

Re: I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker
I was interested to read that t.p.andrews had to sit some exams to guarantee his product knowledge before being allowed to sell door to door. I had a Talk Talk door knocker come to my house last week, and he didn't even know what 8MB broadband and unlimited downloads actually meant. I am not just saying that, he admitted it himself. Needless to say he didn't convince me to switch from BT. I am very happy with my wireless Home Hub so far, though I have only had it a short while. I have a question for the Talk Talk reps on here. The door knocker I spoke to indicated that I could just switch Broadband provider, and they would take care of everything. I asked him what would happen about the fact that I was only one month into an 18 month contract with BT. Surely there would be a contract buy out charge? He didn't have a clue, so I was wondering if anyone here could enlighten me. I was also told by my door knocker that all the previous problems experienced by Talk Talk due to the massive demand were now a thing of the past because they have bought AOL and now have so much more capacity. But didn't AOL already have thousands of users, many of them quite vocally unsatisfied? It was an unconvincing arguement, in my opinion.

Re: I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker
In answer to Boro Bob regarding leaving a BT contract. I had just completed my first quarter with B.T's Option 3 when I decided to join TalkTalk. On reading through B.T.literature, it said "you may incur a termination charge", so imagine my astonishment when I rang B.T. and was told that I would be charged £272.00, YES £272.00. Eventually, after many arguments with B.T. senior staff, the charge was 'waived', and I paid just £17.22. During one of my conversations, often heated, with B.T. Seniors, when I made the point that their literature did not specify an amount, he told me that I was lucky, that the fact there was no specified amount meant that B.T. could charge me any amount, even £1000... I told him not be so b....ridiculous. I have now been with TalkTalk for nearly two months, and I have to say that I am perfectly satisfied with the service. Compared with B.T., their Billing is so simple to understand....I could never make head nor tail of B.T. Bills, even after they were supposed to have improved it and made it simpler. Perhaps I was the simple one.

Re: I'm a Talk Talk Door Knocker
Hamlet:In answer to Boro Bob regarding leaving a BT contract. I had just completed my first quarter with B.T's Option 3 when I decided to join TalkTalk. On reading through B.T.literature, it said "you may incur a termination charge", so imagine my astonishment when I rang B.T. and was told that I would be charged £272.00, YES £272.00. So my Talk Talk door knocker was lying to me when he told me that they would 'just take care of it'? Suprise suprise! To give him the benefit of the doubt, he was probably just ignorant. Ironically, he seemed suprised when I expressed the opinion that Talk Talk had a bad reputation. He certainly did nothing to enhance it. Apologies to the Talk Talk reps watching this thread, as I have ended up just moaning. I honestly wish Talk Talk would sort them selves out, because if they could truely offer what they claim to, they would be real competition to BT. As it stands, I am not willing to risk it. If I was going to switch away from BT, it would be to one of the smaller companies with a sound reputation. I had been condsidering Madasafish, but BT have just bought them out, so I'm glad I didn't bother.
