Ok, thank you all for your advice. I will give it some more thought.

    Re: ICICI Bank

I agree that the rates offered by ICICI are very attractive. I have found the standard of service offered, both online and on the phone, not up to the level provided by other banks, and cannot comment on their credit standing, however I think that provided you stick within the £50,000 limit guaranteed by FSCS the rates offered make an investment well worth it.

I agree with "the Doc", I have had good experiences with ICICI, they are easy to deal with on-line, they have a secure email connection (when logged on) to which they reply within 24 hours, the staff are polite if you have to call them (naturally they're based in India, but you call a UK number) but my phone experience has always been good.

Whats more their products tend to offer "best buy" rates, particularly the fixed term accounts.

I thoroughly recommend them for your savings.

    Re: ICICI Bank

I seriously doubt it. ICICI have built a solid reputation up in the UK.

I have two accounts with them, and when I opened the first, the cheque details were used to verify the bank account details I provided. Quite clever really.

    ICICI Bank

    Hello,

ICICI Bank is offering an easy access savings account at 2.45% interest. You need to send them a cheque before they open an account for you: is this correct practice or is there something dodgy going on here?
