    Re: Icelandic Banks

ok, thanks for the replies. I still can't get through though, and my account has not been updated to show that my monies have left. I'll keep trying and hoping that there's no problem.

    Re: Icelandic Banks

I guess nobody has any info on the interest while a claim is made....i would think there is NO chance of seeing any at all.

    Re: Icelandic Banks

I have 4 Years worth of Savings in a Icesave ISA. Looking at the FSCS Website it shows that it could take up to 6 Months to claim the money back. I can't be without Interest Free money for this period of time. Why did i believe the Comparison Websites such as Money Supermarket and Motley Fool. Is the safest place for our money under the Mattress? Do i try as hard as possible to transfer this money out of the ISA (If Icesave are still trading) and transfer into a normal Savings account with Natwest and lose my Interest Free option only to ensure the money is safe?

Does anyone know how long it is going to be before a decision is made on Icesave's fate?

    Re: Icelandic Banks

The transfer I requested this morning from KE to my linked account is a BACS transfer and my KE account now shows 0, so vespa1, I would suggest maybe a computer problem more than anything else.

    Re: Icelandic Banks

    Hi

I would suggest that none of you really understand the situation. The money you have invested was giving you a great return because it was invested in sub prime lending. Eventually, whatever country you put it in you are going to loose some if it is over £50,000. Your moving it about is just delaying the inevitable and causing the possible return you will get to reduce. I think you should understand that. The stock market represents people and is waiting for the interest rates to go down and massive saving of banks to stop. They were after all the people who created all this.

    Re: Icelandic Banks

I requested that my savings with KE be sent to my linked account last Saturday, and was told that the money would leave my account on Monday (yesterday). This morning the money is still showing as being in my KE account, but I was assured by the nice man on the telephone that the request was being actioned. I hope so. He said to wait until Wednesday before ringing back. The phones are now permanently engaged.

    In response to skywalker.

Yes it is a possibility that iceland goes bankrupt, why not, it is not because it is a country that it cannot go bankrupt.

But my main worry is that if I have to claim my savings back, it could take many months, and I can't have that money inaccessible in that way.

    Re: Icelandic Banks

I did the same this morning the money has also gone from my account but apparently the money goes into the banking system and then processed by the receiving bank who then process it, if you paid by chaps you will know by the end of the day if not it may take up to 4 days. My bank say there is no other way tracing the money whilst it is in the system so just watch and pray.

My guess is that if you withdrew last night you should be OK.
