kevkin1:Hi there, this is my first post. I own a 3 year old Hyundai i30 with 2 years left on the warranty. The car has always been serviced by the dealer from new. I am the second owner, it was the dealers demonstrator for a year when it was new. Ok hear goes, - the air con stopped working a few weeks ago, it went ito the dealer yesterday who told me it has a small leak in the condenser behind the front bumper. They think it may have been hit by a stone but can't be sure. There is no visible damage, just a pinhole leak. A stone would be hard pressed to fly into the front grill then under the bracket and make just a pinhole leak. I think that the condenser has got a weak weld on that spot and has blown from the internal pressure. However the dealer and Hyundai are refusing point blank to replace it under the warranty, in fact they are both being quite rude to me on the phone now. The dealer has said it will cost me £698 to get it replaced. The car has only done 23000 so the mileage is not excessive. I am afraid that if I ask the dealer to look again they will stick a screwdriver in it and then say- "thats the hole." I am certain that the dealer and manufacture are just trying to fob me off.

Ask the AA or RAC for an independent inspection and if they agree it is likely to be a manufacturing fault, take this up with Hyundai UK head office. I believe AA & RAC can provide an inspection report, so it is worth enquiring how much this would cost.

my dad had a hyundai until last week when the engine blew up. the AA told my dad as did the garage that these things are built like tanks.

i can try and find the number for the man who bought it for scrap if you want but it was a R reg, don't know if it will fit.
