Firstly I think you're amazing for taking this with such equanimity. Have to mention the obvious... You used to work there... no help? My instinct would be face to face or anonymous enquiry on the phone. I went into Barclays for them to sort out a problem a while back. The assistant said before you go and turned the screen to face me you can borrow that much. I said you mean, fill out the form and you will say yes or no. She said no it's PRE APPROVED you can have it 'now'.

    Hope that's of some help.

ps moneysavingexpert.com have a post going that centres around comments from bank staff/ex staff. You could do a bit of grrrrrr! :-)

Re: HSBC online credir card application

OooooEr! i was just about to ask the same thing! My credit rating isn't great but i want to add a few bits and set up a standing order to clear everything within a year. I cannot stand HSBC (I used to work for them too!) and they've sent me a Pre approved credit card app form. I want to apply to consolidate, but not too sure if i can now! perhaps better to pop in?

Also i have a laptop on HFC (yes, i know, terrible) but can i add this to my credit card?

    Any advice much appreciated!

    thanks!!

    Jo

very similar experience to me with Capital One....................they even sent me the credit card and then when I rang up to ACTIVATE the card, I was told to "hang on" ............then was told, sorry your account has been "rejected now".................cut the card up !!!

nontheless, after several warning calls from myself......2 weeks later they sent another credit card to me which was fine !!!!

confused ???.........yes so am I ............................

The variations in the way companies "assess your credit" is astounding........................

    HSBC online credir card application

I applied for the above credit card. I got sent a letter saying I have been approved and to send two forms of ID together with the credit agreement.

I did this and got a rejection letter.

Upon further enquiery it transpired that HSBC do not credit check you until you have signed the credit agreement (totaly misleading) for online applications and they obtain a credit score given to them from experian - i.e. they do not look at your credit report themselves.
