i'm not really sure why u want a loan if ur only reason is to build up a credit rating. as far as i know, a loan or credit card or whatever want help u build up a credit rating. far from it, the more u borrow, the worse ur credit rating gets! just do wt u do, pay ur salary into ur bank account, pay ur bills on time, don't commit any crimes(!!) and this should help u get a better credit rating. as a freshie, u'd need to be bankin with ur bank for atleast 6 months before u qualify for a loan and i must say at 6 months, the chances r very slim too. my advice to u would be, if u r thinkin of a loan just to build up ur credit history, then u dont need a loan. if u want to borrow money, could a credit card be handy at all? just as a temporary measure till u qualify for a loan. u could try other loan companies if u r desperate, but u could be held to ransom on the apr and other fees!! so be careful.

I've been living in the UK for 7 months now, having moved here with the company i work for.

I've recently tried getting a loan, but because i have no credit history, there's nothing to score me by.

I'm a private tennant, working a full time job of 40 hours a week.

Can anyone advise where i could go to get a first loan so that i can start building my credit rating ?

Everywhere i try so far has wanted a 3 year address history in the Uk which i havent got.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
