How to close overdraft with CC?

    Hi everyone,

Here is the situation. I've got ovedraft of 2,5K with Natwest bank used to the limit. I'm paying interest on this overdraft, however I feel strongly to close it ASAP. Just recently I got my new CC from Barclays with the credit of 2K. Originally I applied for this CC to transfer my balance from overdraft, thus clearing it and paying the balance off during 0% interest period. But, apparently this doesn't work like this. I need urgent advise as to how close my overdraft with the help of CC or other means. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hey

If you search through the forum you will find some threads regarding this. Im sure most credit cards dont allow what you are looking for to come under the term "balance transfer" although some do, i think Egg and Virgin were mentioned.

Thanks for reply eco_warrior. However I have already applied to noth Virgin and Egg, and they refused to accpet me. On the other hand, as mentioned before I got Barclays CC. In some other posts MBNA were mentioned, are they really good?

Don't forget that the more times you apply for credit, your credit rating will go down (I think?) so it is not a good idea to apply for lots of cards/loans at the same time. The rate of interest on Barclays isn't that favourable either. It's a really difficult thing to do and the best advice would be not to get more debt but to try and reduce your overdraft - so much easier said than done, I know
