Re: How to beat rocketing car insurance costs

Just renewed our ins and the missus had a small own fault claim in Sep. Current insurers want £300 plus and after negotiation dropped to £280. Using Moneysupermarket I got a best comparison from Co-op. I then went for a requote from Co-op through Topcashback.co.uk. By refusing legal aid and enhanced courtesy car the quote fell from £185 to £146 which I accepted and paid for on line. Reviewing the policy I find we have been given 60% no claims despite the fact that the review shows I declared the claim and stated that our current insurers knocked us back to 2 years. Furthermore, my Topcashback account shows £65 cash back payable in about 3 months. This means we are paying £20 more than last year which I consider reasonable considering we had to claim. Policy starts on 12 Feb.
