Why not phone a broker and ask?

You are required by law to reveal to an insurer all "material facts".  A material fact is any piece of information which would influence an insurer as to whether he insures the risk at one rate or another, or if at all. If you fail to do this the insurer is free to reject the insurance contract, and of course the claim.

I am not a mechanical engineer. but if the fitting of alloy wheels, alloy and lowered suspension constitutes a "material fact" then your failure to inform an insurer is something any insurer would have a right to know, and failure to disclose such information could invalidate the contract.

On the other hand if you have already old them of this failure on your behalf, - and can prove it, in my view you would not have to inform them again.

How long do I declare a non disclosure?

    Hi all.

I had a car written off in 2004.  My claim was rejected due to non disclosure (of alloy wheels and lowered suspension). I never declared out of knaievity. If I had known they would invalidate my claim I would have for the sake of a few quid.

Anyway, that's neither here nor there. Once bitten, twice shy and all that.

My question is, am I stuck with this on my record for good or is there a set time after which I don't have to declare this or that insurers don't take this into account?

My last 2 insurers have had no problem with it and have only slightly loaded my premium. However, anywhere that gives me fantastic quotes then refuse to cover me due to the non disclosure.

     Any help is much appreciated

     Thanks
