    Re: House and Contents Insurance

Simply ring your Insurers, explain your family live locally etc and they will probably be happy to cover it (They sometimes raise a charge or restrict cover). They may have some requirements such as switch off mains supplies and drain tanks down.

Its best for your family to get a small note pad and make a note of the date and time they visit, any damage and any actions they take. The Insurers will normally want to see proof of when they visited and this will act as proof

Hi - In that case have a look through the threads on this search result about the subject of unoccupied home insurance and empty home insurance when renovating a house, there are quite a few insurers mentioned who will be able to quote you.

I'm away for 59 days. I've got the travel insurance sorted but the standard house and contents clause doesn't cover it. Thanks anyway.

Providing your house is unnoccupied for no longer than Thirty consecutive days most mainstream insurance companies will offer quotes, it would be a good idea to drain your central heating sysyem (if fitted) at that time of the year though, or leave it on low for your visitors to keep an eye on.

    House and Contents Insurance

I'm going away over December and January and wanted to know the best insurance policy for that period when the house will be unoccupied but regularly visited by my in-laws who live in an adjacent property.
