I have 10,000GBP that I can put in a one year a/c, obviously want the best interest. I wish to transfer it from a Building Society or a bank.

The "money" tool at the top will help. Fixed term bonds usually give the better rates

My opinion is that you should deal with a bank or building society that you know and trust and not just whoever gives the most interest.
