Hi -- Sounds like he's signed an order form and left his deposit to enter into an agreement with Carcraft and a so far unnamed finance company.
Because this agreement is a Three party agreement (Him, CC and FC), any one of the parties can withdraw from the agreement before the agreement is executed. He can inform them in writing after making a telephone call to inform them. He must stand firm and not let these bullies keep his deposit.
The deposit is refundable despite what they will tell him. There is only resonable costs for the car being off sale / prepped for delivery that they are allowed to keep.
The sales manager in there will be very abrupt, probably rude and without doubt arrogant. This is because he knows the law and wants to frighten you into thinking you're wrong.
Go get 'em.
JJ
You gotta tie yourself to the mast my friend, and the storm will end.
