Yes, prepayment meters may take something different to the payments due. The common reasons for this are a change in tariff and a change in user. If you took a starting meter reading when you moved in, as you should have done, and if the supplier reset the meter, you should be able to check the statements to see if the charge is correct.

Help outstanding bill on pay as you go meter - Scottish Power

    Dear all,

We have a issue about Pay As You Go gas Meter( I used Card to top up).

We moved into our flat and used Gas from Scotish Power for 3 months.

We then switch to British Gas.

Few days later we received an outstanding bill, asking us to pay them the debt( over £20).

The bill shows our top-up account statement as well as the charge for 3 months period.

does that normally happen to everyone?

I though Pay As You Go mean I only pay for the amount I used.

Why did I receive a bill?

Is that because they cannot update the price for the meter and at the end of a period, they will make some ajustment?

thank you very much for your help

    Colin
