Blimey Federov, don't get carried away. Really glad it all worked out and well done you. I take back my earlier cynicism.

RESULT!!! Just had a phone call at 5.45pm from Lindsey at Admiral (Complaints Manager I believe), it was referred to the underwriters where the central database holds this record of my "incident" and they have reviewed on an individual basis and deemed it such a small incident that they will be removing it from the database in the next 7-10 days. :)

She is also going to refund 77 pounds back as they are going to match the £272.20 internet price I originally found :)

I've kindly requested that she can confirm everything in writing with me and was also given her direct phone number should I need it.

Think I'll be sending a "thank you" letter to them next....

I am sorry but I agree with Cat's take on the situation. In every CEO's office there is someone sending out lots of these letters. The one positive thing, however, is that at least you know that they now have your version of events not the interpretation put on it by whoever fills in the message on screen at the call centre!

    Problems.

Well, I hate to put a dampener on things but I reckon that is a standard form letter that they can just churn out really swiftly to keep people at bay. And, of course, it won't be the CE who does the investigating but some poor, uninspired lackey ........

But, having said that, let's hope that they prove me wrong. I would diarise this for ten days and then chase them if you've had no response.

    Let us know, as ever.....

    Cat

They got their letter yesterday and I got a letter back today...

Thank you for your recent letter, which I have received today, I was concerned to read your comments about the problems you have had dealing with the Admiral Renewals Department.

After receiving your complaint today, I have personally ensured that it is given careful attention. I have asked the Admiral Complaint Executive to investigate the matter and reply to you within seven working days.

Admiral aims to provide an efficient and accurate service to all its customers. The comments of customers, like yourself, are helpful in identifying any problem areas and I appreciate the effort you have taken in writing.

    Yours sincerely

    xxxxxxxxxxx
    Chief Executive Officer

Nice fast response, wait and see what happens next I guess

backfoot:Well done,I hope it works out. It does seem most unfair and unsatisfactory .What have you done about the insurance in the meantime?

I had little choice but to accept the best discounted renewal with Admiral - I figured I'd have a better chance of getting this black mark removed from my record if I stay a customer (for now).
I requested that the renewal guy make a note that I am making an official complaint regarding the "incident" and that I expect to be refunded some money when my price becomes correctly reduced again.

Re: Help: I now have an "incident" causing huge premium increases!

Thanks all, I've written a letter and am sending it to the Chief Executive of Admiral Insurance by special delivery tomorrow, I've noted on the top of the letter that I have sent copies to BBC Watchdog, FSA, and Insurance Ombudsman. See what happens...
