Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
Hi. I have pet insurance for my dog but the premium is sky high - more than £500 a year. Is there anything I can do to cut my premium or are there any insurers that offer lower rates?

Re: Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
Pet Plan seem to be really popular but my experience is that they offer really high rates. I have my West Highland Terrier insured with Argos, which is a pretty good premium - only £85/year. I'd be interested to know if there are any other insurers worth recommending though and how what can be done to cut costs.

Re: Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
hi,
i took out a plan with pet plan, every year they put my primium up by pence, it all added up in the end, me and my husband seperated and he was on the dole, i was also, but debts mounted up and i was left to pay 4 everything, it got to much i had 2 cancel my pet insurance, but when my husband and i got back together he was upset i canceled the pet plan, he should of helped me pay mine and his bills instead of leaveing it all to me, the pressure was just to much for me.
my dog is 14yrs old with fluid on her lungs and a heart murmer, she also has a tumer with seems to grow slowley, (thank god).
because of her problems the vet recomended doing nothing for her, as she may not pull through the op. I love my babe so much, because i couldnt have children i attached myself to animals. im hopeing i have another 2 or 3 yrs with my judy. sorry u guys, but my dog meanes the world 2 me. what i'm trying to say i guess is, the insurance or not, nothing can save her apart for her fighting all the way, an op is out of the question, no money in the world can save her, she knowes she's special and loved so much by myslf and my husband, I cant stand the thought of my life without her, i can honestly say she is my best friend and she's there for me when im down and there to brush my tears away when i cry, i love you jude baby, xxxxxxx

Re: Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
I was moved by your post and it serves to show how much we are attached to our pets. I have a cat called Scaredy and whilst for the first few months that we had him, he never came near us because he is so timid, now I wouldn't be without him.
If I was in your position, I would go to the Peoples Dispensory for Sick Animals, they are a registered Charity and can help in cases of need. See this link http://www.pdsa.org.uk/index.html
I do hope that things work out well for you.

Re: Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
Hi Richard,
Thank you for your reply,
My husband and i work full time now, when i was seperated it was back in 1992, iv worked full time dor quit sometime now, I did go to the p.d.s.a when i was out of work but because i work now im not allowed to go back, My Judy's problems developed in the last year, I use to take her to Airs vet but found them not careing enought and only there for the money. I transfered her to another vets, 1st vets, really good careing vets, and they told me a site i could go to to get her medication cheap.
if you or anyone need medication go to www.bestpetpharmacy.co.uk this site is direct with free delivery, all prescription and none prescription drugs available. if you need a prescription your vet will give you 1. my vet give me a 6month prescription and best pet pharmacy keep it and every time you order medication they send it out to you, saves alot of bother, i save £20 a month on my dogs medication. its brill

Re: Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
Hi can I maybe shed a little light on this for you... your insurance probably would not have been any use to you as most insurers only insure the animals up to the age of 7 or 8 years but they dont tell you and you go on paying the insurance but try and claim and you will be lucky to get anything. I dont have insurance for my dogs I have a savings plan that I put away a little each month into and that pays all their vets bills.... so far my two girlies have had cancer ... one had tummy stripped on one side the other had a cancerous growth in her throat removed and all this was paid for from my little doggy savings account. Check with any pet insurers and ask them how long the plan is for and does it go over the 7 or 8 years ..

Re: Help!! How do I cut my pet premium?
I always find it sickening that pet-owners would rather feed an animal than another human. Best way to cut that premium - cut the pet. SHARK!
For every positive action, there's an equal and opposite government plan.
