    1) Your mum could look to get quotations for a new policy elsewhere, including you as a named driver. Plus contact AXA to see how much it would cost to cancel the current policy.

    2) There are temporary policies available, where you would just Insure yourself to drive the car, but these are likely to be very expensive. e,g dayinsure.com

For the amount it would cost you for just the 6 months up to when you go to Uni, I personally would not bother. If it cost you say £1000, you would other things to use the money. That is just my outlook, but you are probably keen to get some driving experience after passing your test.

Nb. Lucky escape with Ecar?EGroup. They have a terrible reputation. Just search online for complaints about them.

Help! Can't seem to get insurance - needing advice!

I am a 18 year old girl and I passed my driving test at the beginning of April. Seeing as I'm off to Uni at the end of September I didn't see the point in getting my own car, so my mum said that I would be able to use hers until then, she's got a 2002 plate Ford Fiesta. We thought it would be straight enough to ring up her insurance company and add me as another named driver (not fronting though, I would definitely be an additional driver as she uses the car much more than me), however when we rang up AXA they said that they wouldn't take me as they don't insure anyone under the age of 19.

So I thought that if they wouldn't have me, then I could try some additional temporary insurance for 6 months until September. So I put in all my details into a temporary insurance provider called eGroup Insurance thinking that I could get a quote. However, one of the questions that I had to fill in was 'Who does this car belong to?' and because 'Parent' wasn't one of the available options listed, I chose 'Other'. Then when I got to the end of filling in my details and pressed 'Submit' it came up with a message saying 'You selected 'Other' on the question 'Who does this car belong to?', eGroup Insurance does not permit this and therefore we cannot complete your quote'.

So now, I don't have a clue what to do! The only other thing I could think of is that I could get insurance on my own, but then for an 18 year old this is going to cost about £1800 for an entire year, plus I only need it for 6 months! Anybody have any ideas? They would be much appreciated.

I never thought it would be so hard just be able to drive a car for a few months!

    Thanks :)
