Let them take you to court - it sounds like it is hassle, but invariably if you are in the right and have all the supporting paperwork, how can you loose?

I had similar troubles a number of years ago and got so fed up with being threatened, I ended up waiting until it got to court and refused to let them settle out of court. I defended myself, showed the evidence and got the court to rule in my favour which included: removal of adverse credit information completely, reinstatement of service, three months compensation for missed work etc, compensation in lieu and the ability - on record - to move my service to another provider without 'prejudicial' conditions imposed. All in all it cost the company concerned somewhere around £8,000 plus legal costs. I never had a problem with them afterwards.

    SHARK!

Hi --- As energywatch have already been involved, the best I can suggest is that you contact them again detailing your ongoing problems, they will take up the further complaint on your behalf. In the meantime try not to let it worry you while energywatch sort it out.

Hell at the hands of British Gas & Buchanan Clark + Wells

Service in BG is pathetic beyond words!..Bought a new build flat in Jan (my first property as I'm quite young), informed BG re. date, meter readings etc.  4 months later, BG sent a bill on someone elses name (though it's a new build), covering partly a time period before my ownership.  Called BG to rectify, ignore letters they said.  1month later I get a disconnection notice, call BG who vowed to rectify.  2wks later, new acc for me is set up BUT also receive a bill for the other acc for period before my ownership (now bill has MY name on it instead of this other persons).  Called BG who claimed that I was liable as my name was on it!  Went to EnergyWatch.  Called BG again and name was taken off the acc - told to ignore any further letters.  2wks later, get letter from debt recovery agency!  Call BG who denied my name was given, but debt recovery agency say otherwise!  BG have now put the developers of the property as acc holders but the debt team is still passing my name onto the debt recovery agency (buchanan clark + wells).  After contacting BG about it, they claim to call up BC+W to stop mailing me, but 15 min later when I call BC+W, they're asking me for their money!  I've just had my final notice sent to me, so wrote a letter to both BG (named contact) and BC+W via email but have had no reply for two days now.  Have had no threatening letter from BC+W as yet (6 days since I received my last letter), so expecting one any day now as I get one usually on Fridays.  Managed to get the number for BG's Minder group today (are they a debt recovery dept?).  Called them and they claimed to have called BC+W while I was on the phone (don't believe them).  They were quite rude and refused to send me written confirmation (as with all my telephone calls with BG).  They weren't apologetic at all and given me the impression that they don't really care that they've given me 5 months of hell, and would not do anything in the event of me getting a hefty fine from BC+W and having my credit reference ruined.....any ideas as to where I should go from here?....I'm just absolutely miserable about this, and am no longer sure what to do apart from going to court!
