In my experience many insurance companies tend to have 'offshoots' using different names. This particularly applies with domain names. It normally doesn't mean anything to the actual levels of cover and the underwriters will remain the same. For example insure and go appear to go under a number of different names.

The current 'Elect Travel Insurance' offerings on MSM indicate that the products are arranged by Insure For Travel so I'm not surprised that they invited renewal using their main brand name rather than Elect.

    Hope this helps to clarify.

Thanks Captain, I did think of ringing but decided not to just in case it was only a scam, and at 5p a minute which is the call rate, thought a quick post here instead would shed some light.

As it is, I discovered the firm was on the list of insurance providers offered by this site, though not the one I used before, so decided to go further, only to find the wording of the cover was completely unnaceptable to me, and basically anyone who has had any ailment at all, at any time, would do well to read the terms of the cover before commiting themselves.

I have now decided to go elswhere for my cover and have found one that suits my requirements better.

    Thanks anyway for your input.

May I kindly suggest you pick up the phone and call them to find out.

They will have your details on file and you can then request the relevant information. I am sure you can locate the phone number on the webpage most likely under the banner "contact us"

    Good Luck

(Please do not misconstrue my words as being rude, its just kind advice and what i would do in your situation)

Has travel insurance company changed or is this a scam

Hi, I insured last year for annual travel insurance via MoneySupermarket for my wife and I and were insured with Elect Travel Insurance, and were waiting for a renewal email to come through as it expires towards the end of this month.

Today I received an email from Insurefortravel.co.uk advising me my insurance was up for renewal and should go to their site which I did. The problem is I have had no previous contact or documentation from them and expected an email from either this site or Elect travel insurance, or at least find I was renewing my existing policy and not taking out a new policy which seemed to be the direction I was guided into on the site.

is this request to renew legitimate? or just someone who knows my insurance is about to expire. There was no policy number on the email, just my name.

    Advice please, many thanks, Brian
