Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Hi Laura

I'm sending you this email on this forum because the email address you posted does not seem to work.

I filled out a credit card application form a couple of weeks ago and received a call last week from what I believe was UCC to tell me that although I hadn't reached enough points for a credit card and would I like a loan instead. I told the person I spoke to I didn't want a loan and rang off. Since then I have been inundated with calls and texts on my mobile phone from UCC and have just had a call on my works phone number from another company called advanceplus.co.uk as well as a text offering me a loan. I received 5 calls yesterday and texts. It doesn't matter how much I tell the person calling that I don't want a loan, they don't seem to accept it.

I am also very worried that my credit score will be adversely affected because from reading the reviews about your company I believe that numerous credit checks will be made against my name and I do not want this to happen.

Please stop these calls and selling my details on to other companies or I will be forced to contact the financial ombudsman and report your company. I personally can not believe that Money Supermarket can endorse your company!

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Laura

Does Unsecured Credit Company Plc operate from call centres based in India?

I have done a google a couple of times for unsecured credit company and seach results reveal a company unsecuredcredit.co.uk which could be confused with UCCPLC as well as other companies that include UCC in the search results.

Is it possible that UCCPLC is being confused with other companies that operate in a different way e.g. charge fees and try to sell other products ?

    Hello Bez76,

Sounds like you have had lots of contact at different stages of your application - but are still looking for a final on your loan. It also sounds as if more than one application has been received on your behalf.

Occasionally Agents will ask what you wanted the loan for as a way of validating that they have the correct person on the phone - as the loan purpose is personal but less intrusive than asking for a DOB or postcode.

If you would like I would be happy to assist personally - please email me (lauratrainor AT uccplc.co.uk) giving your full name, postcode and a contact number, and I can check the system then call you to let you know what I find.

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

Oh my goodness that is exactly the same that happened to me. I applied for a loan last week, I spoke to a lady who on Friday who took all my details, to be then passed to a man, who took all my details (again) and then passed me to another man who said that I had been put through to progress with my insurance plan. I said I didn't want insurance, I wanted a loan, he said we don't do loans, we do insurance, I again repeated I wanted a loan and he carried on trying to sell me insurance. Exasperated I put the phone down.

I then rang back again, talked to the same original lady who had a different name, but sound exactly the same. She then asked me to go through all the details again, I said, I have done this twice and I then got through to a man trying to sell me insurance. I said to her if I wanted insurance, I would have asked for insurance. She put me on hold and then came back and apologised and tried to put the phone down on me. I said, please, before you hand up, can you let me know what happens with the loan and rather annoyed with me she said, we will ring you within 48 hours.

On Saturday I got a missed call from the same number, I rang up again and I was asked to give all the details of why I wanted a loan again. I said, I have done this twice now, I am not doing this again. He apologised and look through my files and said on this occasion I had been unsuccessful but they are searching for other lenders and they will ring me back.

Yesterday I got another missed call, I called back - the same thing, asked me to tell them the reason that I wanted a loan. Again, I said for goodness sake, can you put on your records that I already have given my information, he apologised and said somebody would call me with an update of the loan. I said to him, it would be helpful if you left me a message on my mobile as it isn't always easy to answer the phone, he agreed.

Again, today have had 5 missed calls from them. No message! The final time I answered, with a massive delay, sounded like it was in India. When I finally heard something, I was referred to as a "Mr" when I am clearly a "Miss" and was again asked to go through stage by stage of why I wanted a loan....ARGGH! Do these people speak to each other???

This is clearly a best the most unprofessional company I have ever had dealings with or at worst a complete scam!

The reason why I am dealing with this company is because I am struggling to get credit, otherwise I would go to a reputable company.

UCC if by any chance in this world you are a real company, please help us out by actually given us a loan and helping, instead of 100's of missed calls and asking the same questions again and again!!!

    They are just a farce!

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Hello Huckster,

Bad feedback about any company is very easy to find on forums. The adage is true about bad news getting much bigger voice/audience than good news.

I can confirm with absolute certainty that UCC do not charge any customer any fees what so ever - the services of UCC are completely free. There are lots of companies who do charge a fee, it is very common, and some of these companies may even send a customer to UCC to assist (as part of the service they have charged for). So if anyone feels they have been charged by UCC - please check your bank statement for the name of the company that has debited the funds (it will not be UCC!)

However, to give personal re-assurance of this or to raise a different type of issue customers may write to: 3rd Floor Westmead House, Westmead, Farnborough, Hampshire. GU14 7LP. Feel free to mark any correspondence for my attention.

It is never acceptable for promises to be broken and I'd like to address and respond to specific cases where a customer feels this has happened with UCC.

    Thank you

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Laura

If you carried out a search on this forum and many other consumer forums on the internet, there appears to a theme emerging.

The theme is that UCC charges an administration fee upfront, promises to provide a loan by a certain date and then does not get back to the people concerned.

There are many people that are stuggling financially at the moment and you will understand peoples annoyance when promises appear to be broken. Some have been promised loans by (say) Friday and then when they phone, there is a denial that any promise was made.

I have not been affected by this issue but have read many posts on this site about the lack of service provided by UCC.

For the people that have experienced problems, perhaps Laura, you can post details of the basic process that UCC follows and also a note of the complaints contact information.

    Thanks

    Huckster

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

Zigerz, this not factual. UCC have a large call centre with several different departments. Customers may have to be transferred to a different department to be assisted.

Hagley Road is not related to UCC in anyway. There is nothing to pay up front to UCC and as a broker we would not guarantee a loan as the final decision is made by the lender.

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Hi Laura

Obviously we discussed this when I first started the thread and the calls have stopped so I ave no particular grief. I have bought several insurances since then that I previously would have checked here for a quote but did'nt just in case my details got back into the loop again.

However when enough people have complained that the regulators are now investigating the practices of these so called companies which cliam to reduce peoples debts its time to take a step back and assess the relationship.

Any company that claims they can reduce your debts by massive amounts if you pay them or the other fad of reclaiming your bank charges are to be completely avoided as fad companies jumping on a bandwagon to fleece consumers. These are things you can and should do quite easily yourself.

I know the claim is USCC is helping to get loans but in practice it is a prelude to unlimited fake companies calling about debt reduction. None of which ever met the requirements under law of a UK company.

Just replying as I seem to get intermitent updates to this thread and best of luck to you Laura as I defnitely appreciate you are doing a genuine job. But for one I will be looking forward to the outcome of the OFT's investigation.

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

UCC are a Indian family living on the Hagley Road unconvincingly pretending to be a call centre, they put you on hold-play a bit of music whilst passing the phone across the table to their sister/brother. You contact them, they phone you back when the families round the table, they then take you through different stages of nothingness and then pass you to the other end of the table to someone pretending to be adifferent company who then tries to sell you insurance not even anything to do with what you phoned up about in the first place. DONT PAY ANYTHING UP FRONT, IF THEYVE GOT A LOAN GUARANTEED SEE IT IN BLACK AND WHITE FIRST. They have put on different voices too to make out there are more of them, do they really think we are that stupid?

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Mal123,

It sounds as if UCC have tried to assist you with a loan as well as some additional (optional) services. Can you be more specific about what you found negative that?

Usually if a Debt Management service is offered it means that a loan is not an option - in order to assist with what can be done most responsible companies will try to find an alternative, to give customers some options.

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

The Question was for advise one uscc and most likely the person who posted it wanted to know of some good feedback?

You only have to looked at the replies to see most of them or not in ucc favour.

Yes they say they dont charge you fee's but when i called them they tried to sell me insurance for work, asked me if i need glasses incase i wanted to get insured for that and then went of to ask me if i also want dental insurance!!!

I need a loan not INSURANCE...The next day i was called by a company called churchwood, they said they will try to get me a loan? I Had already clocked onto them and checked them out, they didnt offer me a loan but surprise surprise the did offer me a dept management plan

this is the exact same thing USCC offered me

I DO NOT THINK UCC REALLY HAVE ANY INTENSION OF HELPING PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN REFUSED ELSEWHERE FOR A LOAN, they just want to sort out your repayments and take a percentage...

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Hello thesarahmonster,

It is completely unacceptable for any employees to be rude in any way to customers and is not tollerated.

I would really like to find out who you spoke to so that the appropriate action can be taken - to do this I would need some personal information in order to search the database. I will also be able to ensure that any details held are removed from the active data base and ensure you do not receive any calls etc.

You can contact me privatley on 01252 555 863 or by email lauratrainor AT uccplc.co.uk

Customer feedback, even negative, is a great source of information on how we can improve things and if an employee has not conducted himself appropriately I want to find out who it was.

Please contact me so that I may make use of your experience to make positive changes.

    Thank you

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

    Hello Kalimai,

Who was your lender please? The process you describe is new arrangement that UCC have with a particular lending company that is co-ordinated through the Management at the Head Office for the lender - so if you called a local branch the Branch Manager to discuss they may not all be aware of this service.

You are right to query anything you are uncertain of but I can assure you UCC do not scam anyone. If you would like to discuss this further with me please do not hesitate to get in touch, I would like you to reassured on the source of your details and for what purpose they were passed to UCC.

Re: Has anyone used the USCC (unsecured credit company)

I just had a phone call from UCC. They claimed that the company my current loan is with had asked them to contact me to see if I could get a loan with a lower APR. He said he had all my details and would just need me to confirm a few things before running a credit check and processing my loan! This sounded suspious so I rang my loan company who said that this was not true, they had not passed on my details and that it was a scam to try and get me to take out another loan. Also that they had had several complaints about UCC and were investigating.
