Thanks, I've had a look at greasypalm and been accepted for an egg card so should save (and make) some money. Thanks for your help! :-)

Oh and if you are considering applying for a credit card or buying anything online then check out GreasyPalm who give about £20 cahback for accepted credit card applications with certain providers such as Egg. Plus you get £2.50 just for signing up. I've made over £50 cashback in a couple of months:

Copy and paste the above but take the space out between palm and .co.

Haven't got a great deal of experience in student bank accounts but if you're actively using the £1,500 overdraft but just need to reduce it by £500 I would advise applying for a 0% for Purchases Credit Card and then everytime you buy something that you normally would i.e. fuel, shopping etc. Buy it on the credit card which will be 0% for a year (if you get a good one) and everything you would normally pay out of your own money which you have saved because you've paid it on the credit card you can pay off your overdraft and get it down to £1000.

Shouldn't take long to do. 1 or 2 months as you can use credit cards everywhere nowadays.

    graduate current account

    Hi,

I have a Barclays Higher Education account which has a free overdraft up to 1,500. Now that I have been graduated over a year, they sent me a letter to say that the free overdraft will be reduced to 1,000 with the rest chargable at 15.6% EAR unless I switch to a Graduate Additions account which costs 5 pounds per month. I disagree with paying for a bank account so don't want to do this and at the moment cannot afford to get out of the chargable part of the overdraft as I am stll in a training year.

Do you know of any way to switch to another bank who will take on my overdraft free of charge?

    Thanks :-)
