Bearing in mind what Jalexa has explained you could try Zopa, pay particular attention to 6,7, and 8 of their FAQ's then read about their lending conditions and criteria. They cater for differing levels of creditworthiness, which is reflected in the interest rate they would expect in return.

Nope. Still avoiding your direct question. Have you checked your credit report? It may be that the gap is not evident in which case you do have a previous address, or alternatively record an explanation.

If you haven't checked your credit report before you can obtain a £2 statutory paper report, pay more for an online report, or get a "free" report so long as you remember to cancel.

If going "free" make sure you go direct to the CRA website and not via a referral website.

Hi Jalexa. I think I do have pre and post electoral entries. I was living at my parents place from the mid-90s until I went to uni from 2001-2005. Then came back home and worked until heading abroad in April 2007. Came back in March 2008 and started working again in April. Then in August 2008 moved into the flat which I'm in now. Think the main thing is finding an on the ball lender as you say. Any suggestions?

Let me tackle this in a different way. You should ensure your Credit Reference Agency files contain address and electoral roll entries prior to April 2007 and from March 2008. You are entitle to make a file note explaining the gap.

That in itself doesn't entirely get round a loan application form requiring current address and previous address if less than 3 years but there is no reason why an on the ball lender can't deal with that manually.

If you haven't got pre April 2007 and post March 2008 address and electoral roll entries don't blame the lenders.

Good credit but was out of the country during 2007...looking for decent loan interest rate

    Hi,

Can anyone suggest a good place to go for a loan given the fact that I have a good credit rating but I was away travelling from April 2007 to March 2008? I'm looking for a loan of 5k. Most of the companies that offer interest rates below 9% (given a 4 year repayment plan) require you to have been in the country for the past 3 years.

As said in the title I have a good credit rating but due to the fact that I haven't been in the country for the past 3 years the only places I can find that will offer a loan are those associated with poor credit and so can only offer pretty high interest rates.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Nick
