Re: Getting a name taken off a mortgage

    Hi,

Been in a similar situation, where by me and my mother bought a house together although she didn't live in it nor pay the mortgage. After meeting my now husband we tried to change the name on the other half of the mortgage to my husbands. I contacted the mortgage company so ask how this would be done and they advised that they would send me forms to fill in, then re-look th at the mortgage amount, combined with our income and advise if the change was possible. If it was to work we would then have to higher a lawyer to oversee the process.

I think your situation will be the same but the other way round i.e. looking at the mortgage and making an assesment based on your partners mother being able to meet the repayments of the mortgage on her income alone. I expect a lawyer will need to oversee this as well.

    Hope this helps.

Getting a name taken off a mortgage

My partner has a mortgage with his Mother. We now live together in a rented property. In order for us to save for a deposit on our own home, my partner wants to get his name taken off the mortgage he has with his Mum.

I have no idea how to go about this, and equally dont know how difficult it is. Does anyone know? Advice on the next step would be great.

    Thanks
