    Re: Getting a deposit returned

You're welcome, your post is still the same as far as I can see. When it first appeared last night you had posted it in another members thread below by error about a unrelated Porsche dealer in Bristol. As your's relates to a different Ferrari dealer in Swindon the mods will probably have separated the post for reasons of uniformity.

Underlying reason for your post as a warning to others to get everything in writing, is a useful reminder.!

Resurrection, many thanks for your response. Do you know why my references to the particular dealer have been removed? The idea was to essentially warn people when dealing with this dealer, as I have heard that they have attempted to retain holding deposits from a number of people. Thanks.

    Re: Getting a deposit returned

Your post serves as a useful reminder to others, always obtain any form of eventual agreement in writing, unfortunately many people just take the suppliers word.

I have highlighted the fact before on a few occasions, that a verbal promise is often only as good as the paper that it is written on. Never-ever feel uncomfortable or embarrassed requesting written confirmation to any agreement, reputable traders will always be happy to oblige to confirm.....unless something underhand is going on, in which case walk away whilst you still can.

    Getting a deposit returned

I also put a four figure deposit down on a vehicle with a Ferrari garage in Swindon. When it turned out that the car was an import, I kindly requested that they returned my deposit only to be told that the deposit was non-refundable. Luckily, the business manager had e-mailed me stating that the deposit was refundable so I submitted a claim through MoneyClaim Online. Eventually, they sent me a cheque for the deposit plus the MoneyClaim fees plus interest.
