Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

in t-mobile we have Solo light which as an automatic credit bar and can be given to customers with a poor credit history as you cant run up a bill its a monthly rollong contract (no phone) so you can build a credit history up then move to a full contract.

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if any of you can help me.
My girlfriend has been trying to apply for a new contract on T-Mobile after getting fed up of the soaring Pay as you go Rates.

We tried to get this all set up at the weekend and were both turned down at Carphone warehouse at the credit check.
We have no credit problems and I found my credit report completely clear upon checking it when getting home.

I found that Carphone Warehouse apparently have a differant way of checking your credit report and that alot of people get turned down by them when the Network themselves may accept you.

We tried going direct to T-Mobile and my girlfriend was again turned down.
I spoke to Experian after this and they stated that the problem may be that we are not on the voters roll.
After getting this registration in motion and trying to speak to T-Mobile to see if there was anyway to prove that this was in motion and go ahead with the contract as we are after one of their deals that will run out before our credit reports will be updated she was told that they cannot do anything about this but that I maybe able to get the contract through with them as I have some good credit on my report even though I am not on the voters roll yet.

I was just wondering if anyone knew whether this was in with a good chance and if someone had got a contract under these circumstances or whether we'd just need to wait until our credit reports were updated.

    Thanks all.

    Hi

I've just got a new Nolia N95 on contract from O2 with 600 minutes and 1000 texts for £35 a month and I've got the worst credit rating possible without being bankrupt. So it could be worth a try 4 anyone wanting one.

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

I have just applied to t-mobile online, unfortunately due to my bad credit was turned down for their flex contract but they called and have offered and I have gladly accepted their solo package which is sim only but for £20 a month get 500 minutes call time and unlimited texts, not sure what else I need from a phone really! The guy was lovely and said that after 6 months provided I pay my £20 on time every 30 days I can look into getting a contract phone as even if my credit rating still low they have proof of payments which they can base their next decision on. I am a happy bunny!!!!

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

    Hi,

I probably have one of the worst credit ratings ever. I have 4 CCJ's, house repossessed a couple of years ago, and I owe thousands to credit card companies that I've just never been able to pay for years.

I was fed up of paying more than I needed to on PAYG, so I thought I'd have a go at contract.

Orange said they'd accept me, but I needed to pay them £800 from a past defaulted contract which I was unable to do.

    Vodaphone was a straight "No"

3 didn't accept Solo or Electron cards, but instead asked me to produce documents at their shop which I didn't have, so they wouldn't do it.

o2 was a straight "No" within 2 seconds of applying online.

T-Mobile said "No", but the person I spoke to said it was probably as I wasn't on the electoral roll. This has now been rectified, T-Mobile have accepted me, and I'm very happy. I have a brand new Sony C902 on their Flext contract. As I have a phone contract on direct debit, hopefully it will go some small way to making my credit file look a bit better.

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

Hi, I have had so many problems for the past couple of months to get any contract phones with any network that i can. I know my credit rating is very poor, but when do networks start to offer contracts for you again!! lol. I have applied for every network, and just waiting for t-mobile to email me to decline me aswell, lol. If t-mobile do decline me, would it be a good idea to apply for their u-fix light solo sim card?? Not sure what this sim is like, but from what i can understand you cannot go over the monthly cost at all!!but its only the sim without the phone!!. or should i just stay on the over expensive pay and go option lol. Its so annoying having poor credit, especially as i am still only young!!! tut.

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

you have to miss a payment by a long shot to get a fee charged, and they text you, ring you and send a letter way before that happens. Please dont sign a contract unless you have the means to pay

I can only speak for t mobile as i work for them, but they are pretty lenient, and have a number of levels of credit score to enable a tailored plan for the customer and an ability to gradually increase your rating, however i can strongly recommend going INTO store rather than online, that way you know its the right tariff and phone for you as you can demo and go through everything properly. Also any future issues(faulty handsets, insurance claims etc), you have a face and name to go to.

    hope that helps x

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

    Hi AJBERRY
    Who were you accepted by????

Glad you wrote you credit score by EXPERIAN. I have higher one but it still rates as POOR and my ORANGE contract is expiring in DECEMBER. Not sure what to do as it is essential to CLOSE DOWN the account,it looks better in the future as I will have settled the matter. I have got 5 missed payments on my credit file {ORANGE}as the direct debit had not been set up {contract through 3rd party} and I am very laid back about everything.
Trying to find a phone company that do QUOTATION SEARCH not CREDIT SEARCH but they do not do it and I don't wanna leave any footprints on my credit file.
The ones mentioned on this forum don't work as they search companies..............or I may be mistaking. DOes anybody know where I could take up a contract phone where they don't do credit check??????????????
    Thanks

I could extend my Orange contract without having had credit check but they would not close the account this December and I would have to carry on for another 18 months and the 5 missed payments would stay on my file for 6 years after the account had bn closed. I am 25 now and saving up for a deposit for a house so you can imagine how I feel. I may as well go back home cos of this.

If only ORANGE barred my phone after 1 month not 5, I would have bn ok but those b*****ds let me use it for 5 months before they blocked it and realised I had not paid my bill! Stupid blond I am. I know!

Try www.badcreditmobiles.com for a list of retailers who can help provide a contract phone to people with with bad credit.

I was accepted onto a flext plan by T-Mobile . Just went into one of their shops, came out with a phone. :)

They do perform a credit check however, but if your score is higher, it would be likely you would be accepted.

Re: Getting a contract with bad credit?

I work for Orange sales and loyalty department. its possible your application was passed to credit referalls then declined as your not on electoral register at the addess you wanted to take contact out at. try applying for a sim only- there the 30 day contract, the credit checks are much easier to pass as there isnt the cost of a £200-£300 handset involved. Once you have passed with sim ony, your are guaranteed a long term contract after 3 months. the only other alternatives are to apply through orange retail with proof of id. hope this helps.
