    Genuine company or not

hi, i want to buy uk car from spain at unbelieveable price, but i have to send money to a company acting as third party, i been trying to check if this company is legit, they say they dont take credit card because of previous problems, but i will try to pay half amount and any fees incurred ,maybe they will accept, my question, am i protected if this is fraud when purchasing a car abroad thru the internet in this way? thanx for any good answers ,this company is espana cargos mundo, they specialize in checking vehicles for buyer and then shipping and delivery upon payment through bank transfer, they offer refund within 72hours if vehicle is not as described , then charge the seller, the money will stay in their bank account until vehicle is delivered and buyer is happy .has anyone heard of this? is bank transfer safe tony

    ninoc

    I would advise against this..

I have family in Spain and they find that cars are more expensive there than in the UK. In fact they have several friends who have travelled to Germany to buy cars and have driven them back.

If there is a car being advertised at an unbelievable price, I have a feeling this is a con.

If you are interested why don't you get a cheap flight and travel out to have a look. You could always ask a local mechanic to check the vehicle over for you.

I doubt that you will have any protection if you purchase the car via the internet from such a company. By raising the question on this forum, you are already suspicious and I think this is wise.

    Re: Genuine company or not

HI Thanx for the advice, it does sound like its too much of a bargain, but they have emigrated and its a uk registered car and i think that they dont want the hassle of coming back to uk ,so, have contracted the sale to this company, hence selling cheap because of the fact of it being in spain,i have done an online vin check on a regonised site and it looks above board, but it stated that it had changed hands in august 09 , that did seem strange , but again i should be protected if i pay by credit card, thanx tony

Best way to check if you are covered is to speak to your credit card company. If I were you I'd ask for the details of the actual seller and contact them direct asking to see the V5 and export papers to Spain (if there are any). Better still to go over there and see it yourself - would you buy a car in the UK without a test drive ??? It will probably be cheaper to drive it back yourself as well as being able to turn it into a holiday.
