    Re: Gas Prepayment standing charge!

I understand that is their standing charge. What I am trying to find out is if they told anyone else they would be paying a different rate. What they told me was 40p+ less than what I am being charged. And I have the letter from them to prove this. I too have found companies that charge less and am infact changing to one that charges nothing. i just think companies shouldn't get away with doing what they want (ie saying one thing and doing another)

I'm afraid that is the standard NPower prepayment daily charge. The daily charge is only one component of your total payments for your gas. I haven't calculated what is the best deal but if you particularly don't like a high daily charge, AFAIK Scottish Power charge £0.10 per day.

It's up to you to seek out the best deal and switch your supply.

    Gas Prepayment standing charge!

I am currrently in an argument with Npower regarding their standing charge on a gas prepayment meter. I have got the energy ombudsman involved as I have a letter from Npower when I first signed up saying they will charge 4.58p per day. I am being charged nearly 50p a day. Can others please let me know what they are being charged? I have decided I'm no longer going to let a large company push me around. I intend on getting as much information as I can and taking this as far as I can. Anyone paying this standing charge should ask for a copy of their contract and check the details. I top up my meter at least £20 a month but £15 of this is just the standing charge.I think this is DISGUSTING!!! I would like to know if anyone else is paying this and also what they first told you you would be paying. Please reply and let me know so I can take this to the Ombusdman and get something done about these companies that supply everyday needed commodities and think they can charge what they like for it!!!! Thanks.
