Thanks ill give the ombudsman a go as i was given a reference by Santander, but even with that no one at Santander could give any more info

You realy need some information about the policy. This information could be a reference number from correspondence or for a payment. With that information, Santander should be able to confirm any balance due. If they don't you can contact the banking ombudsman but you will need some correspondence or reference numbers to get anywhere with your enquiry.

About 20 years ago I had an endowment mortgage which I had to close. Recently I have transferred my current account to Santander while this was being opened they said I already had an account with them . On further investigation this turned out to be an endowment policy related to the previous mortgage which Santander acquired with one of their purchase.

Since then despite numerous calls, emails and branch visits no one at Santander seems able to give me any more information about this policy.

Any ideas how I can get Santander to give me more information ?
