    Re: flooding

    Hi,

Insurers share your claims information with other insurance companies and can carry out a CUE check which will show your claims history with previous insurers. On this basis it is always the best policy to be truthful about previous claims. Your increase in premiums may not be due to just your recent claim, but it could be that you are in a flood area, this 'flood loading' can change dependent on which Insurance Co you are with. Policies are also index linked yearly (which means the rebuild figure of your home increases yearly to keep in line with current building costs and materials etc). There is also the NCD to take into account, if you were benefitting from a NCD and have lost some or all of this you will have lost the discounted price. I would speak to your Insurer and ask for a breakdown of the premium increase.

Yes you should declare and provide as much information as you have available. What caused the flood in the Garden?

See other thread for related question/answer.

Have you asked the Insurance company why the premium has increased by £150? If,so what reason did they give you? In theory if you declared the flooding the premium you paid took this into account. If 12 months has passed and you have not claimed on policy why would Insurers increase the premium by this amount? Is there a flood risk in your postcode area and this has led to Insurers increasing the premium rate? Insurers do compile alot of risk information, taking into account a lot of factors, including flooding. Insurers may therefore know from your postcode whether there has been a problem in your area.
