    Flexicover - Gap Year

    Hi there

I'm considering buying with Flexicover however am worried about the small print regarding their medical cover. I'm in perfectly good health however last year I was experiencing heart palpatations and went to the doctors and then hospital to have an ECG. Everything came back normal and healthy and that was the end of it.

Do I have to call Flexicover and tell them this? Will that up the price of the cover? I've read a few horror stories about making a claim with them but they're so much cheaper than anywhere else - especially as I'm going for 15 months.

Also - I'll be working in Australia while I'm away hopefully doing office work with a small possibility of doing manual work which they don't cover (eg fruit picking). Does this mean that if for example I break my leg while fruit picking that Flexicover can't provide any cover? Won't I be insured through the companies insurance anyway? Also I'll be siging up for Medicare when I arrive.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated - its so confusing!

    Hi

It is always advisable to be upfront with any medical queries that you have, it may well up the premium should they class this as a pre existing medical condition which I very much doubt. With regards to the fruit picking etc if they clearly state you won't be covered then unfortunately this is the case and not worth the risk. I would check that the company you are going to work for indeed has it's own insurance and also just double check with Medicare what is covered.
