Hi,
I am posting this to see if anyone can help us out with the legal info about this Issue. We puchased 5 rolls of wallpaper that is black with a kind of grey speccle through out, we hung 2 rolls and to our suprise and I may add only after we had hung the paper and waited for the paste to dry did we notice around 2-4 lines on 7 of the 8 pieces we got from these two rolls all exept the last piece. These line are going from top to bottom of our paper each at around a few millemeter to an inch in diameter, and becuase of the nature of this dark wallpaper the lines are overwhelming and look really flawed It almnost looke like Big strips of light runnimg down so i checked at night with artificial light to make sure it was not a reflection from the window but the flaw was still their, we just can not get away with leaving this paper as it is.
So we did not want to hang the rest just incase this was flawed, we Contacted the shop and they asked us to Fetch it back, so we managed to strip it back off in the full pieces, we took back the existing rolls unused and the Flawed paper, we could se the Flaw even in the shop, but the staff refused to look and aknowledge this, they said they had to do somthing called a tange test, that is basically hange it and leave it to dry for at least five days.
They have now got back to us on the third day, saying they see no flaws, we then find out this is a un opened roll they tested, they will not Replace that even though they hung it to test, becuase it was fine, although we merly showed the Already hung pieces and expected them to test these pieces once they where tested we would then replace the unopened rolls for the same batch as the replacements paper we expected to get in return for these flawed rolls as you know paper has to be from the same batch.
They insist they can not rehang the old paper as we have already hung it, but the whole point is you do not need to hang these to see the flaws, and we took photos which show these paralell lines/flaws granted the paper does not look black as it was hard to get a good photo on the camera we have, it shows the paper as being very shiny grey becuase of the light, but you can still see the Lines very Clear, so left to the imagination you can imagine how bad these look when hung and in contrast to the actual dark colour of the paper.
all they say they Can do is send the New roll off for tests, they keep shying away from the already hung rolls and these tests would be at our cost upfront of £100, stupidley we would loose out big time. This paper we refer to is to go with another paper we have already hung on two other walls, so we really need this paper we talk about, we need the two rolls replacing, the unopened changed to reflect the new batch number and also this roll opened by them replacing, But they are making us responible for that and refusing to replace.
We have told them all this above, and they are just being plane akward they say they can not see these lines in the flawed paper, we have the pictures and we can also prove/show them these flaws they refused to look at while we where in store first time around, they are blatently being aukward, and refuse to do anything, we are going back to store, but we expect to get railroaded despite all our evidence, so really i would appreciate any info or links reguarding our rights with wallpaper based on what evidence we have.
Were are Really Stuck and need some legal ammo to protect ourself from loosing out, we have saved for a very long time so we can get our dream living room leaving us skint now, I am just shocked at what has taken place in these comunication, and this could go on for months (How do we finnish our room !). they will not give us contact phone number for the manager or boss, and will not get him or her to contact us back, they told us we have to write to whome ever this concearns at the store address, they are just trying to fob us off it seems, by the way we have had this paper for about 2-3 week from when first puchasing and coming to hang it/reporting the issues to the store.
any help greatly appreciated.
