we are looking to move to scotland in the next couple of months, and are looking for the best deal. but i really do not know anything about mortgages at all!! when i put in our financial details into this website it gives me a monthly repayment of around £850 but everyone we speak to says this is really high. i would like some advice about the best deals out there. my boyfriend earns £33000 and i earn around £10000, the house we like is £145500 and we could get about £15000 deposit together. please please please could someone write back and tell me the best deals and the best providers. really need some help as im totally clueless as to whether something is a good or bad deal - dont wanna get ripped off!

Unfortunately inputting a few figures into a simple mortgage calculator won't give you the answers you're looking for. There are so many variables like having a fixed rate or tracker, repayment or interest only, 25 year or 30 year term etc etc that will decide the monthly payment.

Start by working out your budget & seeing how much you are able to comfortably afford each month then book an appointment with a fees free independent mortgage broker who can discuss all your options.

thanks for your response. was looking at getting a fixed rate mortgage, repayment and over 25 years. do you think that £850+ sounds like too much?? i have read so many bad things about mortgage brokers and commissions and all sorts on here that i was hoping to get some advice before i spoke to them so that i wasnt totally clueless. please let me know what you think is the best deal????
