    Hi Rich,

Can you drop me an email to Gareth.Sharp @moneysupermarket.com so I can discuss this with you.

I currently manage a team within our loan section.

    Hi Rich,

    This gets more curious!

I KNOW we don't pursue people as you describe (our people just don't have time to do it even if they wanted to) but clearly someone has!

Perhaps it would be easier for us to have a conversation off line? I suspect I know what has happened, just need to check a few details to confirm my thoughts.

Would it be possible for you to call me on my direct line 02920 905528 and I will see what I can sort out for you?

     Regards

     Steve

Re: First Plus - Heavy Handed

    Thanks for the response

I actually never turned down the loan I just wanted time to think about it.  I agree that considering this, from a marketing perspective, a gentle nudge every so often is maybe policy.  It was the number of calls I received to nudge me plus the number of times I said 'please dont contact me until x time and date' which was ignored.

It was direct to First Plus not through Moneysupermarket which I made the application however if you can add you email address to this message I will send you my details so you can find out.  I was always fairly distrustful of Loan companies like First Plus anyway but thought I'd give them a try.  This issue just reinforced what I had already assumed.

Re: First Plus - Heavy Handed

    An interesting story this!

I work for FirstPlus and this is NOT the way we deal with our customers, or prospective customers for that matter.

Once the customer had declined to accept the loan, this would have been advised back to the original introducer who MAY then have have tried to re-broker the deal with one of our competitors?

The team that deals with the introductions from the MoneySupermarket website does not work Sundays so I don't think any of our people are that keen to ring customers from home on their own time..............! QED - not us!

I am not doubting what happened, just need to point out that it wasn't our Company that did it.

If Sportyrich would like to contact us, we can track his application through and confirm exactly what we did when he declined to proceed.

There you go - record put straight. :-)

Re: First Plus - Heavy Handed

This seems like very poor service and could be described as harassment. I work for a secured lender (not firstplus) and we would call to confirm the paperwork was recieved and then call in a few days to see if you've made a decision, if you havent we would arrange a time to call, and stick to it.

What FP are doing doesnt give a good impression and not all companies are like this. I would reccomend looking at some of the other providers on this site and give them a call, mention that you have a quote with FP and they will probably better the rate too.

Only explanation for this from FP is the possibilty that the loan consultant needed this fir his monthly targets and commission or that FP really need the business as they have had problems with their arrears department and were not collecting the debts but just writing them off - this means they have lost a lot of money which they need to recoup. This has also led to their new premises being indefinately postponed and a freeze on staffing increases.

Write to Carol Vorderman as well. She'd never put her name to a company that adopts this approach. This is shameful.

    First Plus - Heavy Handed

Thought this might interest people and wondered if anyone had had similar experiences.

I contacted First Plus for a loan on Wednesday last week and they offered me one which I said I would like to think about.

On Thursday the phone calls started. By Friday I was being contacted on the hour every hour as to whether I wanted the loan. I was away from Friday to Sunday but my mobile phones answerphone service was full of messages from them asking me to call them back. My girlfriend started being harassed at home about the loan and she rang me on the Saturday saying that she had told them that I wasn't to be contacted until Monday.

One hour later I had another phone call on my mobile from them which I answered. I stated that I wasn't to be contacted until Monday to back up what my girlfriend had said. Again my phone was going on Sunday so I ignored it again

On Monday when they rang me in the morning (preceeded by another to my girlfriend at home) I told them I was not interested anymore due to their harassing tactics. Overall I had in the region of 20 calls on my mobile alone over the weekend. Out of order!

I am writing to them to complain about this but wondered if anyone else had had similar or find their tactics only one step away from loan sharkery?
