Re: Family Member with Pre-Existing Medical Condition

Good Luck with this. I did extensive research into a similar request just a couple of months ago and could not get anyone to insure me. I even went to BIBA (thinks thats right) and they admitted it was a black hole in insurance. Ironically they would give very expensive cover to my Dad who was ill if he was travelling with us but not us if we needed to get home in a hurry. Sadly Dad passed away last week so its no longer an insurance problem

Just phone around with the details and see what they quote. It will be more expensive and some won't cover.

The Post Office policy underwritten by Ageas (nee' Fortis) is worth looking into. But phone their helpline on 0800 294 2292.

Companies that specialise in Travel Insurance including covering pre-existing medicals, both of policyholders and close family that could affect travel include.

Family Member with Pre-Existing Medical Condition

    Hi,

We had to cancel a holiday due to my mother-in-law being rushed in to hospital. Our insurer paid out with no problems, however one of their stipulations on the poicy is that cancellation due to a family member being ill is not covered if that person has been hospitalised in the past 12 months. However small there is a possibility that our next hoiday could be affected by the same illness so our current policy is not going to cover that event. We would have been happy to pay a higher premium to cover this but they don't offer that facility. Anyone know of a policy which will give us cover for a pre-existing medical condition for a family member?
