Family insurance - family members from different countries

Do you know if i am intitled to buy family travel insurance from a British broker if my partner is Australian? I am British and so is our son, we live in the UK but he has not yet been granted residency and is only on a temporary visa. He is a resident for tax purposes however.

Put your question to a sample of Travel Insurance Companies and see what they say. I am sure some Company would be happy to take on the risk of a non-UK resident, taxpayer, although they may wish to charge a higher premium, than if your Partner were naturalised, or whatever the expression is to obtain UK citizenship. Does your Partner have any British ancestors/relatives? That may help if he/she intends to apply for naturalisation/citizenship.

Many insurers consider cover based on residency rather than citizenship. As long as all insured have been resident in the UK for more than 6 months and are registered with a UK doctor then you should be able to apply for family cover.

Of course you should check this with any provider that you consider before purchasing the policy.

    Hope this helps
